To ensure that the enjoyment of a camera lasts for a long time and that it can always deliver the best quality, optimal protection and perfect care should be provided. There are various aids for this purpose, which are ideally always to be found in the camera bag. In addition to the bag that protects your camera, there are other accessories that you can use to extend the life of your device.
A camera bag is the basis, because in it your camera can be taken and transported everywhere, well protected from shocks or other environmental influences by padding. When buying, make sure that you have enough space for your accessories and other items for protection and care. A case already offers good protection, but there are other useful aids.
To keep scratches and dirt away from the display, special protective films are best. These can be replaced quickly and easily if they become scratched or dirty after some time of use and stress. In addition to films, there are also panes of Plexiglas that have the same effect but can withstand stronger influences. To protect the entire case from scratches, you can use special protective cases or covers. These are available in different materials, for example rubber or plastic, and in different designs. They are all suitable for everyday use. When using special lenses, you should also have a lens cap that protects the lens from influences when you are not using it. A scratch on it would prevent any high-quality shots. Before buying, you should pay close attention to whether the camera protection you have chosen is also compatible with your device.
While protection is the basis for maintaining the quality of your model, no camera can do without proper care, especially when used regularly. Microfibre cloths should therefore be part of every kit. Thanks to the soft and gentle material, these gently clean fingerprints or dust particles from the display, lens and housing. For heavier dirt, there are cleaning pens that remove dirt more effectively than simple microfibre cloths. For contactless cleaning, on the other hand, a small bellows is ideal. It can be used to gently remove small crumbs, dust or other particles without scratching the camera.
For more stubborn crumbs and dust, an anti-dust spray is a good choice. This is a compressed air spray that effectively removes particles in the smallest grooves and corners of your camera. These areas in particular are otherwise very difficult to reach. You can also remove loose dust with a brush specially made for this purpose.
To avoid having to think about each care aid individually, numerous different cleaning sets are offered. These contain a selection of suitable products that you can use for daily care. If the contents are not sufficient for you, you can buy one or the other product in addition and stow it in your camera bag.
Common cleaning cloths or even handkerchiefs are unsuitable for cleaning your camera. They usually leave behind much more dust than they remove. You should also refrain from using any cleaning agents. They can damage the sensitive materials and, especially in liquid form, they penetrate the smallest grooves and could spell the end for your camera. So it's better to invest a little more in suitable care aids so that you don't end up needing a completely new device. In the case of dirt that you cannot remove yourself, it is better to consult a specialist or a specialised shop. They can advise you individually and help you. In addition, always pay attention to the instructions in the user manual of your camera if you are not sure whether you are allowed to use a special product.
