Accompanying every printer are the right accessories, because without the right ink or paper, no photos can see the light of day from the ejection slot. Here, too, the quality of the material is important, because it must meet high standards - regardless of whether it is for professional or private projects. Only under such circumstances can photographs be reproduced that are not only beautiful to look at but also have a long life. The quality decides when the colour loses its luminosity and whether the paper used is capable of carrying brilliant images for a long time.
When it comes to printer supplies, it is above all the ink that is required for sublimation printing where the quality cannot be neglected. It must have properties that cause it to bond immediately with the material without running or smearing. To achieve this, the liquid in the ink must evaporate very quickly when it comes under thermal influence. Only then do the pigments immediately bond with the substrate and can no longer be altered or influenced by external circumstances. Inks such as those in these offers fulfil all the necessary properties and ensure high colour brilliance with a high degree of sharpness and a tremendous luminosity. They solidify immediately and thus cannot produce any undesirable effects that would ruin a picture or motif.
The right cartridges must also be chosen for inkjet printers. Here it is important that the ink does not clog the print head and thus the nozzles remain free and permeable. Even a blocked nozzle can lead to a significant reduction in image quality. The inks in this range, however, have the right consistency so that the print head remains free of blockages caused by ink residues for a long time. In addition, the inks must have a high opacity and should produce a distinct gloss effect on the corresponding paper, giving the image a glow from within. This is what makes a good colour for an inkjet printer.
When it comes to printer supplies, the type of paper used also matters if the photos are to leave the printer in the right quality. Ordinary paper may be fine for text of all kinds, but photos on it tend to look pale and feeble. This has to do with the reflectivity of the substrate, because white light is completely reflected here and thus creates a shimmer on the photo. To achieve this effect, stable photo paper or glossy paper must be used. For sublimation printers, special thermal paper can be purchased, which has a slightly different property because here the colour pigments bond directly to the surface. Glossy paper should have a weight of at least 120 g/m². This is also available in a matt version, so that the photos have a more discreet effect.
The corresponding paper can be obtained in all formats, whereby the standard photo format is of course the most popular. But full-page prints in A4 or larger can also be managed without any problems. The respective printers usually have an adjustable feed tray in which the customised photo sizes can be reproduced. These materials are even suitable for simple passport photos, so that with a little practice and the appropriate equipment, the passport photos for the next ID card can be printed directly at home. Often the printers even come with a special function for this purpose.
With a printer it is like with a painter. Only the right colours and the right canvas can create a masterpiece. It's the same with ink and paper, because depending on the quality, they can make a significant difference to the impression of the photo. The better the material, the more likely it is that professional projects or the latest holiday photos will become eye-catchers that you simply don't want to miss. However, you should always opt for original products, as these offer the best properties and are also directly matched to the respective system, which increases the service life of the printers and at the same time contributes to a lower susceptibility in the area of malfunctions and misprints. Thus, good printer accessories also save costs, because a model will be usable for much longer.
