What sounds a bit redundant at first is actually very useful. The right accessories can add many useful functions to your camera bag or backpack, for example, protect your belongings from thieves or improve comfort because you have to carry an extra lot in your backpack. Here we give you some quick ideas and suggestions on how to spice up your photo equipment a little.

Comfort and safety

Those who often carry a lot of heavy equipment will have quickly noticed that the weight can hit the body pretty quickly. To improve the carrying comfort a little, you can replace the straps on your camera bag. They are available in a wide range of colours, so you can tailor them to your personal taste. Carabiners and click closures are also practical, for example to attach key rings to the outside. If your bag or backpack has a cord, you can also buy cord stoppers for it. You can use these to pull the bag closed with the cord. Of course, you can also find cords in a wide variety of colours and widths.

If your bag is closed by a zip, there is a risk here that it can be opened unnoticed by thieves. This can happen so quickly that you don't even notice it - or only when it is already too late. You can additionally secure a double zip with a lock. It will take you a minute or two longer to open, but you will be much better protected against theft in a crowd. You can choose a padlock with a key, but you can also use a combination lock. This way you don't run the risk of losing the key and not being able to get to your camera or equipment. You can make a note of the numerical code, for example on your smartphone, in case you forget it. But don't keep your mobile phone in your backpack. An additional lock to protect against theft also makes sense for photo cases. Especially when travelling by plane, you don't always have your luggage in sight.

Everything is in its place

The following solution is particularly suitable for photo backpacks and photo cases. For best organisation, there are special partition sets with a predefined division. You can fill the available compartments as you wish and the available space is used to the maximum. Lid organisers serve a similar purpose: they are integrated into the lid of a suitcase so that several small items can be stored there. Silica gel is also particularly practical. It prevents humidity from developing in the bag or suitcase, which could damage your valuable equipment. Using this small accessory keeps everything dry and airtight.

If you often transport several lenses but don't have a secure storage option, you could use a lens case. These are usually made of nylon and protect your valuable attachments from dirt and scratches. For outdoor photographers and adventurers (and those who want to be), such a quiver is the solution to ensure durability. Also good for adventurers: Underwater housings for your SLR or system camera. For spontaneous use under water, these accessories can also always be carried in your luggage.
