Pentax is a Japanese company that, at the beginning of its creative phase, mainly produced cameras and lenses. In these categories, however, the company was unable to beat strong competition. However, Pentax has also been strongly involved in the development of binoculars and has further expanded this area, which is why the company now has almost 100 years of experience in research and development in this sector. The individual models are of correspondingly high quality.
Meanwhile, Pentax is one of the most frequently chosen suppliers of binoculars, both by experts and beginners. This is based on the fact that the company offers models that are suitable for a wide range of applications at the same time, but also special specimens for very specific areas of use.
The company offers binoculars for everyone, whereby this product area can be found at Pentax under the name "Sport Optics". It is irrelevant whether you are an absolute beginner, have a little more experience or are already an expert in the subject. In the more than ten different series of binoculars and more than 50 different models, everyone will find what they are looking for, even if they have high demands. Within the individual product lines, the company convinces with numerous features. Some offer you a special inner focus or excellent light transmission. This comes from a special "smc multi-coating". Other models even allow you to see clearly under water.
The individual models convince with a very modern look, which appears elegant and at the same time very thoughtful. Besides, the individual specimens are nevertheless very robust. The objective lenses are protected against scratches and water with a special coating. Thanks to the magnesium housing, the binoculars are pleasantly light and can be used or carried around for hours without becoming a burden. At the same time, the models can be stored in a space-saving way thanks to movable joints. Thanks to the non-slip rubber armouring, the individual models fit comfortably and securely in the hand.
Environmental friendliness is a top priority for Pentax products. The use of arsenic or lead in production has been avoided for years in order to protect the environment and health. All other materials used comply with European and German safety standards and are tested for the presence of any harmful substances. Nevertheless, the quality does not suffer at all. The binoculars are very well made and therefore extremely robust. At the same time, the individual models remain affordable for customers.
Due to the numerous binoculars on offer, there is a suitable model for every possible application. Whether for the theatre or live concerts: from the Pentax company you will receive an appropriate specimen. The models are also suitable for bird and nature watching, tracking wild animals on a safari or other leisure activities such as hiking and travelling. Some binoculars even have the right features for sports and astronomy. Especially for the latter, the demands are particularly high, as here the lens must have a diameter of 65 to 100mm. At the same time, colour aberrations must be reduced to an absolute minimum and both sharpness and resolution should be optimal. This is the case with special Pentax binoculars, so that amateur astronomers get great images of the night sky.
To find the right binocular for your needs, you should understand what the designation of the individual models means. For example, if the product name is "ZD 8x43 ED", it is a binocular of the Z series. The first letter therefore always stands for the corresponding product line. The second letter provides information about the type. A "D" stands for the use of a roof prism, a P for a porro prism. The first number tells you what magnification you get with these binoculars, in this case eight times magnification. The second number indicates the objective lens diameter, in this case 43 mm. At the end you will find an indication of the main feature of the specimen. "ED" stands for a low-dispersion glass, "WP" would mean a waterproof construction and "ZOOM" would indicate the presence of a magnification function.
