Panasonic Lumix GH5 II
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 II, with its updated video features and refined design, offers a professional-quality imaging platform for photographers who need versatile video and photo capabilities in a single compact camera. Equipped with a 20.3MP live MOS sensor with AR coating, the camera records DCI and UHD 4K with the full sensor area and can internally output 10-bit 4:2:0 up to 60p or 4:2:2 at 30p. The GH5 II offers unlimited video recording for less downtime when filming, and the camera comes preloaded with V-Log L for multi-camera recording, making it easy to match tones with footage recorded by other VariCam series cameras. The included DMW-BLK22 battery delivers about 410 shots per charge when you use the rear monitor or electronic viewfinder, and the high-capacity battery can be quickly recharged with the included USB 3.1 Type-C cable. You can also continuously power the camera while shooting photos and videos via the included USB cable.
The 1.84m diagonal rear 3-inch TFT LCD monitor offers flexible framing, good visibility, and vivid colors to support viewing from different angles. An updated 5-axis sensor stabilization system works with Lumix O.I.S. lenses to activate Dual I.S. 2 for highly effective camera shake correction. Whereas shake reduction was previously limited to 5 stops, up to 6.5 stops can now be compensated. The depth-of-field autofocus system benefits both photo and video recording modes, providing fast and precise focusing. The GH5 II features human face, eye, head, body and animal recognition. Deep Learning technology recognizes the eye and face about twice as fast as the GH5, so you can focus on composing your photos and videos. Designed for today's creatives and audiences, the easy-to-use Lumix Sync app for smartphones and tablets enables high-quality livestreaming with minimal equipment. Livestreaming via a router is also possible with Lumix Network Setting software. Indoors or outdoors, all that's needed is the camera and a smartphone to reach an audience. This makes the GH5 II an ideal camera for electronic news, travel, events, lectures and live commerce applications.
20.3MP Digital Live MOS Sensor with AR Coating and Venus Engine.
The GH5 II is equipped with a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor with newly developed AR coating and features an upgraded Venus Engine image processor. These updates suppress ghosting and flare in backlit scenes, provide a 25% increase in dynamic range, and improve color gradation and reproduction. Multipixel Luminance Generation technology maximizes sharpness and faithfully reproduces brightly lit scenes. It provides excellent three-dimensional color control and precise noise reduction techniques for shooting at sensitivities up to ISO 25600, and enables shooting speeds of up to 12 frames per second with AF-S or manual focus modes.
4K video recording
The GH5 II offers outstanding video performance for professional videography and is capable of recording unlimited video at various settings. It can record DCI and UHD 4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit and simultaneously output 4:2:2 10-bit via HDMI during internal 4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit recording. An HDMI port is provided on the camera, enabling high-quality output for use with external monitors and recorders. The camera also offers high bit rate recording for highly detailed images without compression artifacts.
For advanced users, two types of Cinelike gamma presets are available in the photo style. These modes can be used to reproduce warm skin tones or subtle nuances of light and shadow without color correction over V-Log footage. The Cinelike D2 setting prioritizes dynamic range, while Cinelike V2 prioritizes contrast. L. Monochrome S and L. Classic Neo have also been added, and all of these modes can be used for anamorphic video capture.
The GH5 II is designed as an expandable system, with several options available to enhance its video recording capabilities. Examples include an optional XLR microphone adapter that provides XLR inputs and physical controls via a hot shoe connector. Users can also use standard microphones and headphones via the 3.5mm input and output jacks.
Wireless and wired live streaming.
Designed for ENG, travel, event, lecture and live commerce applications, the easy-to-use Lumix Sync app enables high-quality live streaming with minimal equipment. Whether indoors or outdoors, all that's needed is the camera and a smartphone. Livestreaming via a router is also possible with Lumix Network Setting software. Additionally, wired USB LAN IP livestreaming will be supported through a future firmware update.
225-field depth-of-field autofocus system.
The GH5 II features a fast, high-precision autofocus system with advanced Deep Learning technology to detect specific subjects, including people and fast-moving animals. The enhanced tracking performance quickly detects the face and eyes of moving subjects, as well as the human body against a background of moving subjects. The camera continues to track the subject even if they move quickly, turn their back to the camera, tilt their head, or move far away. This contrast detection focus method is suitable for still image and video capture, as well as for subject tracking applications that use color, size, and motion vectors to intelligently detect moving subjects and ensure precise focus. Depth-from-Defocus technology provides lightning-fast calculation of spatial information to capture your images instantly and accurately.
Dual I.S. 2
The enhanced Dual I.S. 2 system combines the camera's sensor-shift image stabilization with lens-based image stabilization to compensate for a wide range of motion and deliver sharper, clearer images when shooting handheld. Dual I.S. 2 requires the use of compatible Lumix lenses with O.I.S.. With this updated stabilization system, the GH5 Mark II can compensate for camera shake by 6.5 stops.
Body design
A large OLED live view finder has an impressive 3.68m-dot resolution and 0.76x magnification for eye-level image composition.
The 3-inch, 1.84m diagonal TFT LCD monitor on the rear panel swivels and tilts freely to support image composition and playback from different angles. It is also a touchscreen, allowing intuitive menu navigation and settings control.
Two UHS-II SD card slots offer settings such as Relay Recording to automatically switch cards when one is full, Backup Recording to record the same data on both cards simultaneously, and Allocation Recording to store specific files on each card for easier organization.
The GH5 II is made of magnesium alloy with die-cast frames on the front and back, and features a rugged design with extensive seals on all joints, dials, and buttons, making it both splash and dust resistant and freezeproof to 14° C.
6K and 4K PHOTO
For situations where a very fast frame rate is needed to capture the best moment, 4K PHOTO lets you shoot 8MP stills at 30 or 60 fps, and 6K PHOTO offers 18MP stills with a 30 fps shooting rate. Both photo modes offer unlimited shooting time, and a pre-burst mode captures images one second before and one second after you press the shutter button, giving you up to 60 frames to choose from.
Other camera features
A mechanical focal-plane shutter allows a fast maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec and a flash sync speed of 1/250 sec. An electronic shutter allows a maximum shutter speed of 1/16,000 s to make it easier to work in bright environments and with larger aperture settings.
