If you prefer analogue photos in paper form, then you cannot do without the classic standard book. It is available in many variations and can be designed in many different ways.
A standard album is a classic album in book form. It has pages made of sturdy cardboard onto which photos can be stuck with glue or photo corners. In many of these, the pages are separated by fine paper, so-called glassine. This protects the photos from damage and detachment. Standard albums are available in square or rectangular form, plus landscape or portrait format.
They are an inexpensive alternative to premium items and have a hardcover, but expensive materials such as leather or linen are not used. Such photo albums mostly have a simple cover made of cardboard or imitation leather, which can be designed in various ways. Unlike a ring or spiral album, the pages are bound directly into the spine. Unlike many premium objects, such as those given as wedding gifts, the cover is not decorated with bows, pearls or other decorative elements.
Standard books are mostly very neutrally designed and can therefore be used for many occasions: Holiday photos, documenting the construction of a house, a birthday party, starting school, your children growing up or confirmation.
While there are many suitable premium products as an alternative, if you prefer it plain, you can of course also use such an album for special celebrations, such as a wedding. A plain, white standard album, which you can design as you like, is suitable for this.
One advantage of standard albums is that they can be designed as you like. Unlike the photo books you can order online, standard books offer the possibility for individual embellishments, captions, stickers and drawings. If you would like to use one for holiday pictures, you can stick flyers of places of interest, entrance tickets, cut-outs of maps or postcards into the album in addition to the pictures. If you would rather use it as a wedding album, you can enhance the pictures of the wedding with filigree stickers or decorations in gold or silver pencil. If you are documenting the construction of your house with the standard album, you can include various descriptions or a chronological sequence of the various works in the album. Many have a window on the cover where a photo can be stuck.
Standard albums are available with black or white paper. White paper can be labelled with different pens, while a gold or silver pen is more suitable for black paper. Standard albums are available in different sizes, as smaller or larger versions.
The cover is usually made of cardboard and is available in both single-colour and multi-colour designs. In addition, there are models with a special cover: imitation leather or even textile fabrics make for a real eye-catcher on the shelf.
Compared to the screw albums, which can be expanded as desired and the number of pages can be adjusted to the amount of photos, the standard books, however, have a disadvantage: the number of pages cannot be changed. If you have a lot of photos that you want to include, the available pages may not be sufficient. However, the opposite can also happen: that you don't have so many photos and pages are left blank. But if you like the look and feel of a standard album better, you can find enough copies and thus one that fits your photos perfectly.
