For many photographers, a fast 50 millimetre fixed focal length is a must in their photo bag.
The SEL50M28 lens from Sony has a maximum aperture of F2.8, shines with excellent image quality and bokeh and shows what it can do, and not just for macro shots. With a reproduction scale of 1:1, it can get very close to even the smallest of things. The focus mode can be selected on the lens, the focus range can be narrowed down in order to focus even faster or the focus point can be fixed in one place using the focus hold button. The closest focusing distance is just 16 centimetres
, and at just 236 grams, the lens is both lightweight and compact. It also has sufficient protective mechanisms to keep dust and moisture away from the inside of the lens.
The ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element is particularly noticeable in the macro range in terms of image quality. Axial chromatic aberrations are effectively suppressed. The aperture is circular and therefore ensures a soft, pleasant bokeh. The mechanical and optical construction of the lens has been specially designed to block out ghost effects and lens flare, even without a lens hood.
