The US company Joby is still very young, but it has already caused a stir with its tripods. Since 2006, they have successfully faced strong competition with their tripods. This is because the Joby GorillaPod concept is totally different from conventional models.
The flexible arms of the Joby GorillaPod tripods are striking. Everything that is within reach is thus held. Not only does this expand the range of possible uses, but it also opens up completely new areas of application. The star is the model with magnetic feet. This tripod can be fixed to magnetic surfaces, whether they are horizontal or vertical.
It is clear that Joby has specialised in modern and small compact cameras and smartphones with its products. In the meantime, the Joby GorillaPod is not only available in various sizes, but also in many different variations. Now it is no longer a problem if the user uses a smaller SLR camera. Of course, the Joby product range is not limited to tripods. Tripod heads and camera straps are also part of the Joby range. When it comes to accessories, smartphones and tablets have again been thought of. In the ActionCam sector, there are further accessory products from Joby.
The innovative American tripod manufacturer Joby presents the GorillaPod Micro 250, the GorillaPod Micro 800 and the GorillaPod Hybrid among other models. All three of the camera tripods are characterised by their extremely low weight and manageability. The new innovative tripods were designed for compact digital cameras. They can be used on almost any surface because the rubberised feet provide support.
The GorillaPod Hybrid can be recognised at first glance. It is the bendable legs that make it so flexible to use. What tripod can be wrapped around a branch to position the camera on? The GorillaPod Hybrid is designed to safely carry system cameras weighing up to one kilogram. The integrated aluminium ball head is also remarkable. Pivots of up to 360 degrees and tilts of up to 90 degrees are possible. Another highlight is the quick-release fastener. The locking of the ball head is quick and safe with the dual-action adjustment knob. The GorillaPod Micro 250 and the GorillaPod Micro 800 both belong to the category of mini tripods. Yet they are incredibly compact. Since the tripods hardly take up any space, they save the customer from having to constantly assemble and disassemble the camera for transport. The coloured feet are rubberised for stability. The ball head is responsible for the large swivel range on both models.
The weight of the GorillaPod Micro 250 is stated at about 26 grams. This small variant is suitable for cameras weighing up to a maximum of 250 grams. The GorillaPod Micro 800 carries more than ten times its own weight, with a maximum weight of up to 800 grams and a tare weight of about 65 grams.
The prices for the tripods range from about 12 euros to 100 euros. The inexpensive tripods are particularly well suited for smartphones, while the more expensive ones are more for SLR and video cameras. Joby tripods are particularly suitable for hobby photographers and filmmakers, or users who like to produce their own videos. For selfies, the GorillaPods are also ideally suited.
