From the 2 mm difference in the back focus between Sony E and Nikon Z mount, the benefit was taken to develop an ultra-thin adapter that could adapt lenses from Sony E-mount to Nikon Z converts. Techart also made it possible to incorporate a CPU chip in a tiny space that "translates" communications from Sony to Nikon so that autofocus, aperture priority, and image stabilization functions are all preserved.
Both AF-S and AF-C, as well as MF modes, work on the Nikon Z6/Z7. Face and eye detection, EXIF data, and time-lapse are also supported. Phase autofocus is used and therefore autofocus speed is on par with native Z mount lenses on the camera. Firmware* can be upgraded via the separate lens dock (included).
*Samyang / Rokinon / Sigma AF lenses are currently NOT supported. This may change with a future firmware update.
