Vaonis Vespera Dual Band Filter

By very precisely selecting the wavelengths of hydrogen alpha (H-alpha) and oxygen III (O-III), which are mainly found in nebulae, the filter increases the contrast between the star object and the sky background. Its use therefore enables a higher quality image with sharper stars and finer details.

Retains only the essentials
The dual-band filter has been designed to transmit only two specific wavelengths to the Vespera sensor:

  • O-III
  • H-Alpha

Due to the filtered wavelengths, it is particularly effective for photographing emission nebulae (e.g

. Orion Nebula M42).

e.g. Orion Nebula M42, Heart Nebula IC 1805...), dark nebulae with hydrogen (e.g. Horsehead or Elephant Trunk Nebula...), planetary nebulae (e.g. Owl Nebula M97, Dumbbell Nebula M27...), supernova remnants (e.g. Veil Nebula, Crab Nebula M1...). For globular clusters (e.g. Hercules Cluster M13, Cluster M92...) the selectivity of the dual band filter helps you to get sharper stars.

A filter specially designed for Vespera
The optical quality of the dual band filter has been specially studied by our engineers to allow use at full aperture without compromising the optical diameter of the instrument. The objective ring is equipped with an electronic microcard that allows Vespera to recognize the dual-band filter and adjust its observation and image processing parameters.

Transmission curve
The filter has a bandwidth of 12 nm at each wavelength (O-III = 500.7 nm, H-Alpha = 656.3 nm).

Instructions for use
The filter specially designed for Vespera fits easily and discreetly into the optical arm. Remove the standard Vespera objective ring and insert the dual band filter until you hear a click. To check that the dual band filter is positioned correctly, connect Vespera to your mobile device and launch the Singularity app. The word "Dual" will be displayed in the Space Center and then on the instrument screen

.
  • Using the dual band filter is not compatible with observing galaxies as a large part of the spectrum will be rejected, attenuating the signal from the galaxies
.
  • The filter is of little interest for observing the moon, individual stars and planets
  • .
  • The dual-band filter is ineffective with LED lighting
.

Maintenance tips

  • Do not expose the filter to direct sunlight
. Store
  • the filter in its box after each use to avoid dust deposits
  • .
  • If you notice streaks or dust, clean the filter carefully with an optical cloth, microfiber cloth, feather duster or air blower
  • .
  • Do not attempt to open the lens ring that contains the filter
