SkyMaster Pro ED 15x70

The Celestron SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars are the ideal choice for amateur astronomers and anyone who observes distant targets. The SkyMaster Pro ED uses high-quality optics, coatings, components and housing materials. With large objective lenses, BaK-4 prisms, ED glass and fully multicoated optics (FMC) with the XLT coating developed by Celestron, the view through SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars sets the standard for astronomy binoculars.

ED objective lenses

Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, i.e. glass with particularly low dispersion, virtually eliminates the color fringing of normal lenses. These color fringes in the image are a widespread imaging error of many binoculars. A TrailSeeker ED has a sharp image from one edge to the other, with excellent color fidelity and maximum sharpness

. Not all ED glass is the same. The high-quality ED glass that Celestron uses delivers visibly brighter and sharper images than binoculars without ED glass. The difference is particularly noticeable in low light conditions such as twilight.

Coating and prisms

All lens surfaces of the Celestron SkyMaster Pro ED are fully multi-coated and feature the XLT coating technology developed by Celestron. Similar to our astronomical telescopes, this high-performance coating reduces reflections on the lens surface and increases light transmission over a wide range of the visible light spectrum. In addition, the prisms inside the binoculars are made of high-quality BaK-4 glass, which further increases the light transmission. The combination of the fully multi-coated lenses and BaK-4 prisms allows more light to reach your eye from your observation target - for a brighter, more detailed image. Together, the fully multi-coated lenses and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission and provide a very bright, detailed image. The ED lenses improve these properties even further.

Large objective lenses

The large objective lenses with 70mm aperture collect a lot of light for excellent performance during twilight or at night. The ratio of aperture to magnification (the so-called exit pupil) is ideal for exploring the night sky and spotting the most beautiful deep-sky objects. The Celestron SkyMaster Pro ED are also an excellent choice for observing distant terrestrial targets - and they are particularly brilliant in low light conditions.

The housing

The specially designed, rubber-armored and robust housing protects the SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars from damage without being a burden. Observing with SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars is equally comfortable with or without glasses, thanks to the adjustable eyecups and an eye relief of almost 16 mm. Eyeglass wearers can view the entire field of view in the eyepiece by simply turning the eyecups to the lowest position. For observers without glasses, the turned-out eyecups help to quickly find the right view.

Observation options

The Celestron SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars have a tripod connection. Use: a tripod adapter (not included) to attach the binoculars to any standard photo tripod or monopod so that you can observe for longer periods of time or even take photos through the eyepiece (digiscoping).

The eyepieces of the SkyMaster Pro ED binoculars have a thread for standard 1.25" astronomical filters. The right filter can make the difference between seeing and not seeing. When observing the earth, it can reduce glare from sand, snow or water. At night, filters can suppress stray light, increase contrast or, in the case of light pollution filters, reduce the effect of artificial lighting. Remember that you always need a pair of filters for the binoculars.
