The AD series comprises roof prism binoculars with an objective lens diameter of up to 40 mm. All roof prisms in this group have an additional light transmission coating ("Enhanced Light Transmission Coating") in addition to the full coating ("Full-Multi-Coating"). The A series binoculars are the compact, portable and robust smaller brothers of the S series. Binoculars with the "WP" designation are waterproof. With this series, users can enjoy maximum portability without compromising viewing comfort and optical performance.

The brand-new binoculars in the PENTAX Sport Optics series combine over 90 years of PENTAX experience and the quality to which they have always been accustomed with advanced technologies at unbeatable prices. For a long time now, all PENTAX Sport Optics binoculars have exclusively used prisms made of high-purity BaK4 glass with a high refractive index, and their "Full-Multi-Coating" is now considered a first-class standard coating.

Multi-coating on all lenses

Optimum light transmission is one of the most important aspects for the visual quality of binoculars. This is also the focus of the technologies for the current PENTAX Sport Optics series. For example, the "Full-Multi-Coating" of all lenses is considered to be an excellent standard coating. It improves light transmission and contrasts while minimizing reflections and providing excellent color fidelity.

Enhanced Light Transmission Coating

The "Enhanced Light Transmission Coating" raises the optical level of PENTAX binoculars to a significantly higher level. This optimized light transmission coating increases light transmission and guarantees exceptionally bright images with precise color reproduction.

BaK4 glass prisms

Since the light rays in a prism are deflected several times at different angles, the quality of the optical glass is of decisive importance. For this reason, only prisms made of high-purity BaK4 glass with a high refractive index are used for PENTAX binoculars.

Phase correction

The design of roof prisms presents a special challenge. Here, the light rays are reflected several times, resulting in a shift of the light waves. An additional phase correction coating on all PENTAX roof prisms corrects the frequency of the light rays back to the natural value.

Waterproofing

In keeping with the motto "Always with you." the binoculars from PENTAX Sport Optics are also subject to special demands. All binoculars with the additional designation "WP" are waterproof according to JIS class 6 and can therefore withstand accidental immersion in water up to 1 m deep.

Internal focusing

Internal focusing protects the binoculars from dust, foreign bodies and moisture. This ensures functionality over a long period of use.

Nitrogen filling

All A-series binoculars are nitrogen-filled to prevent condensation in the binoculars as well as the ingress of dust and minute airborne particles.
