Hummingbird scopes are named after the hummingbird and share many characteristics with this remarkable bird: a hummingbird is very small, very mobile (hummingbirds can fly in almost any direction) and capable of long-distance travel - many hummingbirds live as migratory birds in North and South America. The Hummingbird from Celestron is a "micro" ED scope and, just like its namesake, is as well adapted to long-distance travel as it is to the home garden.
The first true "micro" scope from Celestron is the perfect travel companion: it fits in any pocket or backpack, even larger coat pockets! It is ideal for all birdwatchers and nature lovers who travel a lot and are looking for a lightweight alternative to a large spotting scope. The lowest magnification also replaces binoculars.
The little Hummingbirds offer everything you'd expect from a good spotting scope: fully multi-coated, nitrogen-filled waterproof housing, ED lenses for bright, clear images, a Zoom eyepiece, tripod mount and carrying case with neck strap. The rubber-armored housing protects the spotting scope from bumps and knocks during transport. In addition, the spotting scopes have a 1.25" eyepiece mount, so you can also use many astronomical 1.25" eyepieces to achieve higher magnifications.
