At the heart of all Kowa PROMINAR flagship spotting scopes are the unique lenses made of pure fluorite crystal. For the TSN-99 PROMINAR, the largest lens ever produced was developed with 99 mm effective diameter. Even in low light, it offers outstanding optical performance with crystal clear detail and free of chromatic aberration.

Crystal clear - an expression you hear often in the optics world. A piece of pure fluorite crystal, crafted with the utmost care, is used in the form of a perfectly polished and fully coated lens to realize the definition of crystal clear vision. For the first time in a Kowa spotting scope, an ultra-low dispersion XD lens is used for the convex lens of the objective. Coupled with the concave lens made of pure fluorite crystal with its special dispersion properties, chromatic aberration is reduced even more dramatically. This combination means that color fringing is no longer perceptible, even at high magnifications. This technology defines a new standard of color brilliance and is the result of decades of development work by Kowa.

Dual-Focus

The dual-focus mechanism provides the best possible conditions for accurate focusing. The mechanism has been refined to allow perfect focus adjustment. Quick focus allows rapid adjustment to bring the subject into focus with just a few smooth turns, while fine focus provides pinpoint control even when wearing gloves and offers the ultimate in focusing accuracy. The responsive focusing system is geared to not only facilitate conventional observing, but also in specialized applications such as digiscoping, this technology brings key advantages for pinpoint focus adjustment.

The TSN-99 PROMINAR series body is made of 100% magnesium alloy, making it one of the lightest yet most compact spotting scopes in its class with a large objective aperture. This, in addition to its superior optical capabilities, makes it more portable than many other models. A fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled spotting scope housing, as well as the Kowa KR coating on the front lens, make the spotting scope reassuringly rugged and resistant to the elements.

Perfected for digiscoping

The TSN-99 PROMINAR is 100% compatible with the KOWA SYSTEM range of accessories, giving you access to interchangeable eyepieces, a range of digiscoping adapters for DSLR and system cameras as well as smartphones. Other accessories such as extenders or mounting rings for astro-eyepieces are also available. An exceptionally flexible optical tool for many applications.

Kowa TE-11WZ II 30-70X Wide Angle Zoom Eyepiece

The optical design of Kowa's TE-11WZ II is of a particularly high standard. It is the first Kowa eyepiece to incorporate 2 XD lenses, which limits chromatic aberration in the best possible way. Even at 70x magnification, the sharpness is still excellent. The exit pupil distance of 17mm remains identical over the entire magnification range.
