The EOS R features a 30.3-megapixel CMOS sensor developed by Canon. It offers high ISO sensitivity and high resolution combined with a wide dynamic range. It delivers high-resolution images of unsurpassed quality and depth, capturing detailed images with barely visible noise and up to an amazing ISO 40000.

The EOS R also features the Dual Pixel RAW function, first introduced on the EOS 5D Mark IV. Used in conjunction with the Canon Digital Photo Professional software, it lets you change the angle of view or focal plane for more appealing results in post-production.

High-speed autofocus

High-speed communication

The Canon EF lens bayonet has been completely redesigned specifically for the EOS R system with a unique 12-pin connector. This innovation improves communication between the lens and camera body from the ground up, making the EOS R faster than ever before.

The RF lens bayonet offers a particularly wide aperture and is located very close to the sensor. This also allows lenses to be closer to the sensor, resulting in extremely responsive, fast, high-quality optics with unparalleled performance.

Fast, precise focusing

The EOS R offers a full-frame sensor with 30.3 megapixels and Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Thanks to advanced phase detection, it is possible to choose between 5,655 AF positions. It uses the vast majority of the sensor's pixels (80% of the horizontal pixels and 100% of the vertical pixels) to provide super-fast autofocus for still images and smooth focus tracking when shooting video.

A truly silent camera

In situations where you want to shoot with absolute discretion, the click of your camera's shutter button can startle a subject and your chance for a good picture is lost. This is as true for wedding photography as it is for photographing wildlife.

The EOS R is the first Canon camera to offer a completely silent shooting mode, so you can take pictures without disturbing your subject. Along with the camera's rotating and tilting display, silent shooting allows you to shoot completely unnoticed.

Shoot professional movies

The EOS R delivers the same high level of 4K video capabilities as the EOS 5D Mark IV - plus advanced upgrades like noise reduction to optimize shooting at high ISO settings.

Combining the EOS R CMOS sensor with the DIGIC 8 processor, you'll shoot colorful, detailed 4K video with 10-bit output via HDMI. The professional video output gives you maximum editing capabilities - including 4K time-lapse shooting and extracting frames from 4K video. The EOS R has both a headphone jack and a mini-microphone input.

Lens Adapter EF-EOS R

The standard EF-EOS R lens adapter allows seamless use of EF-S and EF lenses with EOS R system cameras. So if you already have EF-S or EF lenses, you can easily upgrade to the EOS R system knowing that the lenses you already have can be used with their usual performance.
