Highest image quality thanks to stacked CMOS sensor and EXPEED 7 processor
The Z8 is equipped with a multi-layer (stacked) CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 processor, which are also used in the Z9. This guarantees outstanding image quality straight from the camera that meets the highest professional standards.
Flexibility for every workflow
Thanks to its outstanding image quality, the Nikon Z8 offers creatives maximum flexibility to adapt to any workflow,
with a wide range of frame rates and codecs available to capture movies. These include in-camera 12-bit RAW for movies at up to 8.3K/60p or 4.1K/120p. Photographers can choose from a range of file formats and continuous shooting speeds, including an astonishing 120 frames per second. There are further options for creating HDR content. The camera can shoot 10-bit HEIF photos and 10-bit HLG movies in addition to raw files.
Despite the smaller and lighter body, the reliability of the Nikon Z8 is retained. The camera is equipped with professional weather sealing and has the same cold tolerance as Nikon's top models, the D6 and Z9, ensuring reliable performance even in low temperatures.

The Z8 is compatible with a wide range of NIKKOR Z lenses to suit every budget and creative idea. Partner accessories such as gimbals and microphones can also be easily used with the camera, opening up additional possibilities for creative image and movie capture.
- Movie: Shoots pristine 8K or 4K movies and has numerous space- and time-saving features. Users can record 12-bit RAW footage in-camera and choose to work with the professional Apple ProRes RAW HQ codec (up to 4.1k 60p) or the highly efficient N-RAW codec from Nikon (up to 8.3k/60p), which requires half the memory in comparison.
- Internal 8.3K N-RAW or 4.1K ProRes RAW HQ recordings create in-camera Full HD proxy files.
