The S5M2 is based on a newly developed full-frame 24-megapixel CMOS sensor and an image processor that is also new, developed under the L² technology partnership between LEICA and LUMIX. For the first time, the sensor in the LUMIX system supports phase detection AF in addition to contrast-based AF, combining both focusing methods to create a new hybrid phase detection AF. Unattractive effects such as ghosting and flares are minimized by state-of-the-art optical calculation. In addition, the use of Super Multi-Layer as well as Nano Porous Coating (NPC) gives the SIGMA 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art's images visual punch even when backlit and wide open. Excellent build quality with a range of useful features

The SIGMA 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art has both a front filter thread and a rear filter holder. A new MFL (Manual Focus Lock) switch disables the focus ring and prevents accidental adjustment of the distance setting, for example when shooting the night sky. The dust- and splash-proof construction *1 of the lens and the water- and oil-repellent coating of the front lens allow safe use even under rough conditions. Intelligent features such as a focus mode switch, a configurable AFL button *2 and an aperture ring lock switch to prevent accidental adjustment further enhance the lens' flexible and intuitive operability. The tulip-shaped lens hood snaps securely onto the lens.
