Ricoh G900SE digital compact camera
The RICOH G900SE is characterized by a completely newly developed and particularly robust housing. This makes the camera waterproof up to a water depth of 20 m, cold-resistant down to -10°C, pressure-resistant up to 100 kg, break-proof from a drop height of up to 2.1 meters and protected against certain chemicals. This makes the RICOH G900SE ideal for use in workplaces with often extreme environmental conditions, such as heavy rain, dirt and frost.
With a state-of-the-art 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and a powerful image processor, brilliant photos and videos in 4K resolution are created even under such conditions. A 5x Zoom lens from 28 to 140 mm (KB equivalent) is available for an extensive shooting spectrum. Six LED lights arranged around the lens provide sufficient light for short shooting distances. This can be particularly helpful for experts or in documenting findings.
The RICOH G900SE is approx. 26% smaller than its predecessor model and, thanks to the optimized button positioning, sits securely in the hand when the photographer needs to concentrate on other things.
At second glance, the camera impresses above all with its comprehensive technical features for simplifying workflows in digital data management or for seamless connection to company networks such as the intranet.
With the camera memo functions and the integrated barcode reading function, specific data can be easily linked to the images. In addition, the GPS module is already permanently integrated in the new G900SE.
Another special feature are the extensive data communication functions. In addition to wireless data transfer via Bluetooth or WLAN, NFC or wired control with direct image transfer via the "Image Transfer2" computer program are also available. Specific security settings, such as possible password protection of the camera and certain memory cards, protect against unauthorized access.
Data security is also taken into account, for example, with the use of a digitally encrypted and WiFi-compatible certificate. In addition, there is the option of exporting XML files and improved camera operation, with which camera settings can also be changed via computer control.
These features make the RICOH G900SE a reliable recording device and perfect data management tool for professional business applications. This makes the RICOH G900SE particularly suitable for certain applications in construction and transport, utilities, high-security areas or warehouses, healthcare and hospitals, emergency services, police and fire departments, aid and protection organizations or even local authorities and administrations.
Wireless data transmission with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or compatible NFC memory cards
The improved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functions guarantee fast data transfer to a wide range of devices or the intranet. In conjunction with a laser measuring device, for example, the captured data can also be easily attached to the images.
The RICOH G900SE also supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) to easily set up a wireless local network with encryption.
In addition, the camera is also compatible with the NFC standard and password protection can be activated or canceled by simply holding the corresponding NFC cards in front of the camera. With the camera memo function, for example, personal names can also be linked to the data on the NFC card by simply holding a company ID card in front of the camera if a corresponding user list has been created beforehand.
Password protection functions
With the G900SE, operation of the camera can be fully or partially restricted for other users. Certain functions, such as camera or menu access, the internal memory display, the USB port, the use of SD cards or connection to web services, can be selected and blocked from a list of menu items. The camera or corresponding functions can then only be unlocked by entering a password via the camera's on-screen keyboard, the barcode scan mode or with an NFC card.
Two passwords can be set - one for the user and one for the administrator. For example, the administrator can set a personal password to lock menu access so that camera settings cannot be changed accidentally during recording. A further password can then be used to enable camera access only for certain users.
A password can also be set for each SDHC or SDXC memory card. Even if an SD card is lost or stolen, password protection prevents the data stored on the card from being read without further ado. In times when the protection of company information is becoming increasingly important, these are indispensable security functions.
Improved camera memo functions and barcode scan mode for easy data management
The G900SE's camera memo function allows the user to attach a text (max. 100 elements, up to 128 characters per element) or audio file (max. 30 seconds) previously created on the camera or computer to a captured image. With the camera memo function, it is also possible to search for reference images, such as a plan or blueprint, on the monitor. The desired motif can be selected beforehand from a list of up to 999 image contents.
In combination with the barcode scan mode, specific barcode information can also be easily added to the memo data. This makes it easy to manage patient image data for medical purposes or product data in merchandise management, for example.
The EX2 software supplied can also be used to transfer image categorizations and file names to the camera's memo data, which can significantly reduce the amount of work involved in organizing the files once they have been captured. It is also possible to export saved XML data, which improves the interface to the database connection.
GPS functions for automatic transfer of position data
The G900SE has a built-in GPS module. This means that position data and recording data can be automatically recorded in parallel with the images taken. This module can be easily activated using the GPS button on the back, with a significantly shorter switch-on time than the previous model (approx. 1 minute when the camera is switched off, approx. 20 seconds in idle mode, approx. 3 seconds when the camera is switched on). By coupling with the SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System), even more precise position data can be recorded at different locations and at different times. For indoor shots, the previously recorded position data can be transferred to the images taken using the GPS Lock function. An electronic compass can also be used to determine the position.
Extended data management functions in conjunction with intranet systems
When several cameras are used and connected to the intranet system, they can be updated automatically and simultaneously, e.g. by loading firmware updates, camera menu settings and memo lists from an intranet server. An SD card can also be used for this purpose or the camera's time can be automatically synchronized with that of the server.
Reference image comparison function
The G900SE has a "watermark" comparison function with which a previously recorded image can be displayed on the LCD monitor and used as a template for a new image to be recorded identically. The transparency level of the template image can be selected between 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%. It is also possible to display the two images side by side on the screen so that they can be compared immediately. This mode can also be used to always capture images from the same perspective and record the changes over time. This can be particularly useful for documenting stages of development in a wide variety of applications, such as assessing the progress of work on construction sites or growth cycles.
