For the lens of the GR, the extremely narrow design had to be reconciled with an exceptional image quality. And so the 18.3 mm f2.8 (28 mm (equivalent to KB lens) with its construction of six elements in four groups, stands for perfect image quality

With high refractive glass elements with low dispersion, it delivers the clearest and sharpest images in the history of the GR series, while distortions and color errors are reduced to a minimum

The lens design was particularly elaborate to incorporate the original "Shake Reduction", which minimizes the effects of camera shake and therefore image quality to achieve perfect picture results.

Approximately 24.24 effective megapixels ensure high image quality. And by dispensing with an anti-aliasing filter, it delivers high-resolution images even with the smallest details.

Maximum sensitivity up to ISO 102400 with low noise values
The noise reduction process results in high image quality, even at high ISO sensitivities. This, and a 14-bit color depth for RAW (DNG) shooting, ensures rich tonal reproduction.
