Ricoh WG-80
The Ricoh WG-80 is designed to capture every fun and exciting adventure in stunning images. Despite its compact and lightweight body, the WG-80 offers outstanding features that outperform ordinary digital cameras and smartphones in demanding outdoor conditions. It is waterproof to a depth of 14 meters, shockproof when dropped from a height of 1.6 meters, and freezeproof at temperatures as low as -10°C.
An important part of RICOH IMAGING's product portfolio are rugged outdoor cameras that are not only tough but also submersible. In keeping with this tradition, the new RICOH WG-80 has features that are sought in vain on a smartphone and are not easy to install via an app. Thus, the new compact camera WG-80 shows itself as a useful extension of the equipment that should not be missing on any outdoor adventure. There are enough reasons for this.
Underwater recordings at depths of up to 14 meters for up to two hours
According to the IPX 8 or JIS Class 8 classification, the WG-80 not only allows snorkeling just below the water surface, but is also capable of diving up to 14 meters for up to two hours. For underwater photography or video recording, the WG-80 has special shooting modes. Colors contrasts
are optimized and they deliver sharp, lifelike images. This is done by, among other things, enhancing red tones that are lost in underwater photography while effectively compensating for a loss of contrast caused by the scattering of light in water. In addition, the flash function can be selected such that two pictures are taken in succession with (flash off) and (flash on). This prevents the fish from fleeing after the first shot if flash is taken immediately.
Particularly stable housing construction
In addition to the extraordinary underwater characteristics, the camera is also protected against falls from a height of 1.6 meters and is dustproof according to IPX 6 or JIS Class 6. In addition, it is frost-proof at temperatures as low as -10 °C and shatter-proof against weights of up to 100 kilograms. This makes it not only the perfect partner for expeditions and many outdoor activities, but it is also suitable for users who have to take pictures under difficult conditions, e.g. on construction sites or civil engineering works.
Exceptional image quality
The WG-80 is equipped with a back-illuminated 1/2.3" CMOS image sensor that ensures high sensitivity, low noise and high image signal readout speed. Combined with the powerful image processor, this image sensor delivers a peak sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super high resolution images of approximately 16.0 effective megapixels.
The WG-80 offers a range of advanced image processing features enabled by the latest super-resolution technology to ensure sharp, clear, high-resolution images. This is also ensured by the triple anti-shake function, which enables freehand images to be taken at night.
- Pixel Track SR mechanism
Compensates for camera shake by digitally processing image data. - Digital SR mode
Automatically raises sensitivity up to ISO 6400 to effectively minimize the negative effects of camera shake and subject blur in low-light conditions. - Film SR mode
During movie recording, this mode uses exclusive software to compensate for image blur caused by

Five times optical Zoom lens with 28mm wide-angle range.
An important component for high quality shooting is the lens.
The WG-80 features a high-performance five-aperture Zoom optical lens with a focal length range of 5 mm to 25 mm (equivalent to approximately 28 mm to 140 mm in 35 mm format). This allows for a wide range of shooting and a variety of uses, from photos at the family gathering to exciting landscape shots. As a special feature, the digital zoom offers an extension of the focal length range. With a
resolution of 7.5 MP, the range expands to a 7.5x Zoom and at a resolution of 640px even to a 36x Zoom.
But much more important for many photographers who use the camera for documentation or scientific purposes is the macro range, which starts at a minimum focusing distance of just one centimeter - the "Digital Microscope" mode. This enables super macro shots that are not possible with normal digital cameras or smartphones. A special macro stand (included) ensures that the minimum distance of just one centimeter to the subject is maintained.
Six LED macro lights for balanced illumination
The shorter the distance for close-up shots, the more difficult it is to illuminate the subject sufficiently.
Six LED macro lamps are positioned around the objective lens to provide bright, even illumination of the subject, at close range and in digital microscope mode.
With a maximum illumination intensity nearly double that of its predecessor and a five-stage intensity adjustment, this LED unit allows photographers to effortlessly optimize close-up illumination.
However, the LED lamps also provide other useful functions, such as in self-portrait assist mode. For example, the flashing of an LED lamp indicates whether the face is in the field of view, or whether the camera needs to be aimed slightly differently. And in portrait mode, too, the LEDs provide additional light during the
shot. And with so much LED power, it's almost logical that the LEDs can also be used as a flashlight replacement.
Full HD video recording
The WG-80 enables full HD movie recording in H.264 recording format. Users can record high-quality extended video clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, in 16:9 aspect ratio) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. The slow motion function (1280 x 720 pixels) and the interval movie function expand the creative applications. Here, as well as for photo shooting, on dives a special underwater shooting mode ensures high recording quality. A micro HDMI port (type D) for simultaneous output of Full HD movie clips and sound to external audiovisual devices expands the application possibilities.
