Ricoh WG-80
The Ricoh WG-80 is designed to capture every fun and exciting adventure in stunning images. Despite its compact and lightweight body, the WG-80 offers outstanding features that outperform ordinary digital cameras and smartphones in demanding outdoor conditions. It is waterproof to a depth of 14 meters, shockproof when dropped from a height of 1.6 meters, and freezeproof at temperatures as low as -10°C.
An important part of RICOH IMAGING's product portfolio are rugged outdoor cameras that are not only tough but also submersible. In keeping with this tradition, the new RICOH WG-80 has features that are sought in vain on a smartphone and are not easy to install via an app. Thus, the new compact camera WG-80 shows itself as a useful extension of the equipment that should not be missing on any outdoor adventure. There are enough reasons for this.
Underwater photography down to 14 meters for up to two hours
In accordance with the IPX 8 or JIS Class 8 classification, the WG-80 not only allows snorkeling just below the water surface, but is also designed for dives down to 14 meters for up to two hours. For underwater photography or video recording, the WG-80 has special shooting modes. Colors Contrasts
are optimized and they deliver sharp, lifelike images. This is done by, among other things, enhancing red tones that are lost in underwater shots while effectively compensating for a loss of contrast caused by the scattering of light in water. In addition, the flash function can be selected such that two pictures are taken in succession with (flash off) and (flash on). This prevents fish from fleeing after the first shot if flash is taken immediately.
Particularly robust housing construction
Exceptional image quality
The WG-80 offers a range of advanced image processing features enabled by the latest super-resolution technology to ensure sharp, clear, high-resolution images. This is also ensured by the triple anti-shake function, which enables freehand images to be taken at night.

- Digital SR mode
- Movie SR Mode
During movie shooting, this mode effectively compensates for image shift caused by
camera shake using exclusive software
Five-axis optical Zoomlens with 28mm wide-angle range
An important component of high recording quality is the lens.
The WG-80 features a high-performance five-aperture Zoom optical lens with a focal length range of 5 mm to 25 mm (equivalent to approximately 28 mm to 140 mm in 35 mm format). This allows for a wide range of shooting and a variety of uses, from photos at the family gathering to exciting landscape shots. As a special feature, the digital zoom offers an extension of the focal length range. At a
resolution of 7.5 MP, the range expands to 7.5x Zoom, and at a resolution of 640px, it even expands to 36x Zoom.
But much more important for many photographers who use the camera for documentation or scientific purposes is the macro range, which starts at a minimum focusing distance of just one centimeter - the "Digital Microscope" mode. This enables super macro shots that are not possible with normal digital cameras or smartphones. A special macro stand (included) ensures that the minimum distance of just one centimeter to the subject is maintained.
Six LED macro lights for balanced lighting
The shorter the distance becomes for close-up shots, the more difficult it is to illuminate the subject sufficiently.
Six LED macro lamps are positioned around the objective to provide bright, even illumination of the subject, at close range and in digital microscope mode.
With a maximum illumination intensity nearly double that of its predecessor and a five-stage intensity adjustment, this LED unit allows photographers to effortlessly optimize close-up illumination.
However, the LED lamps also provide other useful functions, such as in self-portrait assist mode. For example, the flashing of an LED lamp indicates whether the face is in the field of view, or whether the camera needs to be aimed slightly differently. And the LEDs also provide additional light for portrait shots at
. And with so much LED power, it's almost logical that the LEDs can also be used as a flashlight replacement.
