Ricoh WG-80 Special Edition orange
The Ricoh WG-80 is designed to capture every fun and exciting adventure in stunning images. Despite its compact and lightweight body, the WG-80 offers outstanding features that outperform ordinary digital cameras and smartphones in demanding outdoor conditions. It is waterproof to a depth of 14 meters, shockproof when dropped from a height of 1.6 meters and freezeproof at temperatures as low as -10°C
.An important part of the RICOH IMAGING product portfolio are rugged outdoor cameras, which are not only particularly tough, but also submersible. In keeping with this tradition, the new RICOH WG-80 has features that you would look for in vain in a smartphone and cannot simply be installed via an app. The new WG-80 compact camera is therefore a useful addition to any outdoor adventure.
There areplenty of reasons for this.
Underwater recordings at depths of up to 14 meters for up to two hours
In accordance with the IPX 8 or JIS Class 8 classification, the WG-80 not only allows snorkelling just below the water surface, but is also designed for dives of up to 14 meters for up to two hours. The WG-80 has special recording modes for underwater photography or video recording. Colors, contrasts
are optimized and deliver sharp, true-to-life images. Among other things, this is achieved by enhancing red tones, which are lost in underwater shots, and at the same time effectively compensating for the loss of contrast caused by the scattering of light in the water. In addition, the flash function can be selected so that two images are taken in succession with (flash off) and (flash on). This prevents the fish from fleeing after the first shot if the flash is used immediately.
Particularly robust housing construction
In addition to its exceptional underwater properties, the camera is also protected against falls from a height of 1.6 meters and is dustproof in accordance with IPX 6 or JIS class 6. It is also frost-proof at temperatures down to -10 °C and break-proof against weights of up to 100 kilograms. This not only makes it the perfect partner for expeditions and many outdoor activities, but is also suitable for users who have to take photographs in difficult conditions, e.g. on building sites or civil engineering works.
Exceptional image quality
The WG-80 is equipped with a back-illuminated 1/2.3" CMOS image sensor, which ensures high sensitivity, low noise and high image signal readout speed. Combined with the powerful image processor, this image sensor delivers a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super high resolution images of approximately 16.0 effective megapixels
The WG-80 offers a range of advanced image processing features enabled by the latest super resolution technology to ensure sharp, clear and high resolution images. This is also ensured by the triple anti-shake function, which also enables freehand images to be taken at night.
- Pixel Track SR mechanism
Compensates for camera shake by digitally processing the image data. - Digital SR mode
Automatically increases sensitivity up to ISO 6400 to effectively minimize the negative effects of camera shake and subject blur in low light conditions
- Movie SR mode
During movie recording, this mode uses exclusive software to effectively compensate for image shift caused by
camera shake.
Five-times optical Zoomlens with 28 mm wide-angle range
The lens is an important component for high recording quality
The WG-80 has a powerful five Zoomfold optical lens with a focal length range of 5 mm to 25 mm (equivalent to approx. 28 mm to 140 mm in 35 mm format). This enables a wide range of shots and a variety of applications, from photos at family celebrations to exciting landscape shots. As a special feature, the digital zoom offers an extension of the focal length range. At a
resolution of 7.5 MP, the range is extended to 7.5x Zoom and at a resolution of 640px even to 36x Zoom.
Much more important for many photographers who use the camera for documentation or scientific purposes, however, is the macro range, which starts at a minimum focusing distance of just one centimeter - the "Digital Microscope" mode. This enables super macro shots that are not possible with normal digital cameras or smartphones. A special macro stand (included in the scope of delivery) ensures that the minimum distance of just one centimetre to the subject is maintained.
Six LED macro lights for balanced lighting
The shorter the distance for close-up shots, the more difficult it is to illuminate the subject sufficiently
Six LED macro lamps are positioned around the lens to ensure bright, even illumination of the subject at close range and in digital microscope mode.
With a maximum illumination intensity that is almost twice as high as that of the previous model and a five-stage intensity adjustment, this LED unit enables the photographer to effortlessly optimize illumination at close range.
The LED lamps also offer other useful functions, such as self-portrait assist mode. An LED lamp flashes to indicate whether the face is in the field of view or whether the camera needs to be aligned slightly differently. The LEDs also provide additional light when taking portraits
. And with so much LED power, it is almost logical that the LEDs can also be used as a flashlight replacement.
Full HD video recording
The WG-80 enables Full HD movie recording in H.264 recording format. The user can record high-quality, extended video clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, in 16:9 format) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. The slow motion function (1280 x 720 pixels) and the interval movie function extend the creative applications. A special underwater recording mode ensures high recording quality here, as well as for photo shoots on dives. A micro-HDMI connection (type D) for the simultaneous output of Full HD film clips and sound to external audio-visual devices extends the range of applications
