Special CMOS image sensor for monochrome images

Conventional image sensors receive light through a matrix of red, green and blue filters. Each pixel only captures one color component. In order to create a black and white image from this, conventional cameras have to perform interpolation. Color data is converted into monochrome data. The new, exclusive monochrome image sensor, on the other hand, only captures the brightness information that each pixel receives and thus creates the finest black and white images with a higher resolution and finer gradations - without interpolation.
