For the everyday photographer with high expectations, the Canon EOS R6 is a versatile tool that meets the photo and video needs of a contemporary imaging workflow. At the heart of this full-frame mirrorless camera is a refined 20-megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC-X processor that enable fast shooting at up to 12 frames per second, top-notch 4K60 video recording, and high sensitivity up to ISO 102400. It also features 5-axis image stabilization in the body for stable shooting in low-light conditions.

As a versatile all-rounder camera, the Canon EOS R6 also uses the sensor and processor for robust focusing performance. Dual Pixel CMOS AF provides fast, smooth and intelligent focusing with 1053 selectable points covering the entire frame. This focusing system has also been updated to take advantage of Deep Learning technology for improved subject tracking, as well as accurate eye, face and head detection for people and animals.

Complementing the imaging capabilities, the Canon EOS R6 features a bright and detailed 0.5-inch, 3.69-m pixel electronic viewfinder with a high frame rate of 120 fps, as well as a rear 3.0-inch, 1.62-m pixel, variable-angle touchscreen LCD screen for vlogging shots as well as high- and low-angle work. Additionally, two SD UHS-II memory card slots provide flexible storage, and of course there's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wireless sharing and remote camera control.

20MP full-frame sensor and DIGIC-X processor

The Canon EOS R6 is based on a revised 20MP full-frame CMOS sensor and offers modest resolution to allow for a more manageable workflow, especially for those working with the web and small print forms as final output. This sensor is paired with a finely tuned DIGIC X image processor for stunning photos and video. Sensitivity of ISO 100-102400, which can be expanded to ISO 204800, and fast continuous shooting at up to 12fps with mechanical shutter or quiet 20fps with electronic shutter are ideal for working with moving subjects.

Video recording in 4K60 and Full HD 120

In addition to stills, the 20-megapixel sensor also enables UHD 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second, as well as Full HD at 120 frames per second for slow-motion playback. Both formats can be recorded internally at 4:2:2 10-bit, and both Canon Log and HDR-PQ are supported for better control over color reproduction and high dynamic range. Additionally, Dual Pixel CMOS AF is supported for all recording settings, and external recording via the HDMI port allows for clean 4K output to optional external recording.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

The updated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II features 1053 selectable focus points that cover approximately 100% of the image field, providing wide and even

coverage.

This focusing system provides consistent and fast focusing performance, similar to how a camcorder captures focus. This system integrates two separate photodiodes in each pixel to provide a wide and dense network of phase-detection detection elements over much of the image sensor to reduce "focus hunting" for faster and more direct control of focus positioning. When working with still images, this focus system provides fast and precise focusing, making it ideal for shooting and tracking moving subjects, ensuring critical focus is achieved in every shot. When shooting video, the Movie Servo AF mode provides smooth and natural focusing when switching between different subjects or varying distances within the scene, as well as the ability to set tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and face tracking priority. Using the Touch AF system, focusing is possible by simply touching elements within the subject on the touchscreen to change focus in an intuitive way. Subject tracking in movies is also improved with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system's ability to detect subjects and maintain focus even in changing or cluttered scenes.

Subject tracking has also been improved through the use of Deep Learning technology, which helps to gradually refine the focusing system's ability to quickly and accurately detect human and animal subjects. This technology also supports the refined eye, face and head detection functions for humans and animals, which are well suited for portrait applications.

Sensor-shift image stabilizer

As the first EOS camera, the Canon EOS R6 features a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilizer that compensates for camera shake by up to eight stops, enabling effective compensation for camera shake when shooting handheld at slow shutter speeds. This stabilization system also works in conjunction with lens-based optical image stabilization for both native RF lenses and adapted EF lenses.

Body design and wireless connectivity

The high-resolution 0.5-inch, 3.69 million-dot electronic viewfinder provides bright, detailed viewing at eye level. The fast 120fps frame rate enables natural motion rendering for a realistic viewfinder experience.

The rear-facing 3.0" 1.62m LCD touchscreen features a variable viewing angle that is beneficial for front-facing shooting, such as for vlogging purposes and for working from high and low shooting angles
