Dual Pixel CMOS AF
Dual Pixel CMOS AF offers smooth and fast focusing performance, similar to a camcorder. This system integrates two separate photodiodes in each pixel to provide a wide and dense network of phase-detection sensing elements across a large portion of the image sensor, reducing focus hunting for faster and more direct control of focus. When working with still images, this focusing system provides fast and accurate focus detection, making it ideal for shooting and tracking moving subjects to achieve critical sharpness in every shot. When shooting video, the Movie Servo AF mode offers smooth and natural focusing when changing subjects or different distances within the scene, as well as the ability to set tracking sensitivity, AF speed and face or eye tracking priority. Benefiting from the Touch AF system, rack focus is possible by simply touching elements within the scene on the touch screen to change focus in an intuitive way. Subject tracking in movies is also improved as the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system is able to recognize subjects and maintain focus even in changing or cluttered scenery. In addition, the focus system is sensitive down to EV -5 for precise AF even in really low light conditions.
UHD 4K video recording
Designed for multimedia photographers, the EOS RP supports recording in UHD 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) at up to 23.98 fps at 120 Mb/s, as well as Full HD 1080p and HD 720p at 60 fps for slow motion playback. For in-camera recording, 4K video has 4:2:0 sampling and 8-bit color depth; 4:2:2 8-bit output is possible when using an external recorder.
Audio can be recorded using the built-in stereo microphone or an optional external microphone can be used via the 3.5 mm microphone socket.
In addition, the 5-axis dual-sensing IS can be used when recording video to electronically reduce camera shake for sharper and smoother recording.

New member of the full-frame world of Canon
The Canon EOS RP offers excellent value for money and sets new standards in the full-frame world of Canon. The camera features the innovative RF bayonet with high-speed 12-pin communication, a short flange focal distance and a large bayonet diameter of 54 mm. Developed from scratch, the RF bayonet enables the use of lenses with a new dimension of optical performance, responsiveness and functionality. Photographers and filmmakers can also utilize the full performance of existing EF and EF-S lenses thanks to the three optional EF-EOS R mount adapters. Two of the optional EF-EOS R adapters offer additional functionality, namely the ability to use plug-in filters or a lens control ring.
More creativity through silent shutter release, speed and quality
The 26.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor of the Canon EOS RP in combination with the latest Canon DIGIC 8 processor enables new creative possibilities with an optimal balance of detail accuracy, first-class control of depth of field and incredible performance even in low light. The maximum ISO sensitivity of 40,000 - expandable up to ISO 102,400 - is ideal for low-light shooting. Together with the powerful Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, this enables autofocus down to -5 EV, even in dark environments.
Optimum image quality straight from the camera
The Digital Lens Optimizer (DLO) is automatically applied in-camera for all RF and up to five registered EF lenses. For post-processing, the EOS RP offers the latest generation CR3 14-bit RAW format and a compact RAW option that saves around 40 percent of the file size compared to standard RAW files. This increases the number of images that can be stored on a memory card while retaining the flexibility of shooting in RAW. Images can also be processed in the camera for immediate editing. RAW images are processed using the internal RAW converter. Alternatively, they can also be edited using the Creative Assistant. This offers a range of filters and effects that make it easy to convert the desired result into a JPEG file. These can then be shared directly from the camera after appropriate configuration.
