Fujifilm GFX 100 II Body
Fast GFX 102 megapixel CMOS II HS sensor
The GFX100 II features the newly developed GFX 102 megapixel CMOS II HS sensor, which achieves twice the signal processing speed of the previous model and continuous shooting at up to eight frames per second. An expanded buffer memory ensures speedy operation when shooting series of images in quick succession, and the
new camera allows you to capture dynamic subjects at the decisive moment and in captivating image quality. The GFX system is now also suitable for professional use in reportage and sports photography. The
sensor has a new pixel structure that enables higher saturation and thus a low standard sensitivity of ISO 80. Unlike its predecessor*2, the GFX100 II offers a wider dynamic range and better noise performance.*6 The sensor's microlenses have been optimized to increase light output at the edges of the image. This results in increased imaging performance and more precise automatic focusing at the edges.
High-resolution electronic viewfinder
The camera is equipped with a 9.44-million-dot electronic viewfinder with 1.0x magnification. The viewfinder image is also optimally corrected and free of parallax errors and distortion that otherwise typically appear with changes in eye position. A high frame rate of around 120 frames per second ensures a smooth image impression even during fast movements.
Intelligent autofocus
An advanced AF algorithm not only ensures improved automatic focusing on the face and eyes, but also enables subject detection autofocus based on deep learning technology. Thanks to powerful artificial intelligence, the camera can also detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects and drones*7, and the
detected subject is automatically tracked and held in focus. The advanced AF algorithm calculates the subject's movements in advance, so the camera reliably keeps even dynamic and fast subjects in focus. The photographer can concentrate fully on the moment and the composition of the image. In Zone AF mode, the selected focus area can now be adjusted to the specific shooting situation for even more precise focusing.
Advanced shooting functions
With the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function, the camera captures 16 high-resolution RAW images in raw format in succession, shifting the image sensor by 0.5 pixels after each exposure. The resulting individual photos can be combined into a single image file with a resolution of up to 400 megapixels using the "Pixel Shift Combiner" software. The
function is particularly interesting for professional archiving, digitizing cultural assets and for product and food photography. The GFX100 II has a total of 20 film simulations, including the new versatile "REALA ACE" mode for natural color reproduction and high-contrast tonality. The camera also supports the future-proof HEIF image format, which delivers 10-bit image files that are up to 30 percent smaller than standard JPEG files.
Professional video features
The new sensor allows internal recording of 4K/60p and 8K/30p video with lifelike 10-bit 4:2:2 color reproduction. The new image sensor also shortens the readout speed during video recording, eliminating annoying rolling shutter effects and allowing even fast-moving scenes to be recorded naturally. Furthermore, a sensor sensitivity of ISO 100 can now be used for video recording, resulting in even higher image quality. The
GFX100 II supports various video codecs, including Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 and Apple ProRes 422 LT.*8 For workflow optimization, a proxy video with reduced image quality can be saved in parallel to the ProRes recording. The new Video Format mode allows Premista, 35mm, and Anamorphic 35mm lenses to be used on the camera. In this mode, the camera automatically adjusts the framing to ensure optimal image quality.
Tracking AF is now also available during video recording
.
The object to be tracked can be selected directly via the touchscreen during recording in "AF-C + Wide/Tracking" mode.
Asa result, the camera reliably keeps the subject in focus even when there are multiple subjects in the frame. The
GFX100 II is the first camera in the GFX series to record video in F-Log2 mode with a dynamic range of more than 14 EV stops*9. The video footage recorded with this mode offers more creative freedom in post-production than with the previous F-Log mode. In combination with the compatible external HDMI recorders ATOMOS NINJA V+ and Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G, 12-bit RAW video files can also be recorded. These can be saved as Apple ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW in up to 8K at frame rates up to 29.97 frames per second.
The camera supports wireless timecode synchronization with ATOMOS AirGlu BT*5 for integration into professional video production systems. Timecode can be synchronized between multiple compatible cameras. In addition, there are other new video functions, such as waveform display, vectorscope display, focus wizard "Focus Map", and F-Log2 D range priority mode *10 .
Multiple expansion options
The GFX100 II offers numerous interfaces, ensuring the camera's high connectivity to external devices and networks.
Thecamera body is equipped with an Ethernet port, HDMI Type A and USB-C connectors, among others. An external SSD can be connected via USB-C and used as a storage medium. Regardless of the shooting mode or format, photos and videos, including 4K/60p and 8K/30p, can be stored directly on the SSD. *11 The camera supports theFrame.io Camera to Cloud service. Photos, Apple ProRes proxy files, and many other video formats can be uploaded directly to Frame.io
, making theworkflow from shooting to editing much easier. The
camera has two card slots for CFexpress Type B and SD cards. When using a fast CFexpress Type B card, the maximum video performance of the GFX100 II can be utilized.*12 13 Page 6 of 9 PRESS RELEASE IPTC metadata14can be stored directly in the image files when shooting. The metadata can be reviewed and edited using the new FUJIFILM XApp on a smartphone or tablet.
Integrated Image Stabilizer
The GFX100 II is equipped with an advanced Integrated Image Stabilizer (IBIS)
.
This uses information supplied by the image sensor to provide even better stabilization. Up to eight EV stops*4 longer exposure times can be compensated, more than with any other FUJIFILM camera. Even in very low-light conditions, such as night scenes, sharp freehand image results are achieved.
Inaddition, the IBIS mechanism, which allows pixel-precise shifting of the image sensor, makes it possible to capture highly detailed multishot images with a resolution of approximately 400 megapixels.
Advanced Handling Concept
The design of the camera body has been revised at several points to further improve the handling of the camera. The camera has a casing made of non-slip BISHAMON-TEX*15, so it can be held securely in a wide variety of grip positions. The top is tilted back slightly to make the controls easier to read. The sub-display is larger and the graphical user interface is even clearer. The layout of the controls has also been optimized. Three function buttons are now located on the top of the grip for faster adjustment of camera settings when shooting conditions change.
