Fujifilm X-S20
The Fujifilm X-S20 presents itself as a handy and innovative system camera with AI-based autofocus, remarkable 6.2K video and a particularly powerful battery. It is part of Fujifilm's renowned X series, known for its compact cameras and outstanding color reproduction.
The X-S20: The perfect camera for on the go
The X-S20 combines impressive image quality with unbeatable portability. Weighing just 491 grams (*1), it is the ideal companion when traveling. Whether for spontaneous self-portraits or demanding photo and video recordings, this camera can do it all. Compared to the previous model (*2), it has twice the battery life. You can take around 800 shots (*3) on a full charge.
The compact camera has numerous advanced functions. These include a high-resolution 26.1 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor (*4), the fast X-Processor 5 and five-axis image stabilization with a range of 7.0 EV stops (*5). The innovative autofocus with scene recognition, which is already used in the top model FUJIFILM X-T5, uses artificial intelligence and automatically recognizes various subjects such as animals and cars.
An outstanding feature of the camera is its new Vlog mode. In combination with the TG-BT1 hand tripod and the option to connect an external microphone, this mode provides the optimum conditions for first-class video recordings.
First-class image quality
The X-S20 features a 26.1 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with backside exposure and the powerful X-Processor 5. This combination ensures high image quality and low energy consumption, which is even lower than the previous model.
In AUTO mode, the camera not only automatically selects the appropriate setting for the scene in question, but also recognizes and tracks the main subject independently. This keeps the focus perfectly on the subject even in dynamic scenes, making it easier to take photos and videos in demanding situations.
The X-S20 offers a total of 19 film simulations that give the motifs a particularly stylish look, similar to the use of analog film. These include the "Nostalgic Neg." mode, which offers high saturation and soft tonality.
Autofocus with artificial intelligence
The camera's autofocus is based on artificial intelligence and uses a subject recognition algorithm developed using deep learning technology. This algorithm automatically detects and tracks faces, eyes and a variety of subjects such as animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects and drones (*6). With an advanced AF algorithm that calculates subject movement in advance, the autofocus enables precise focusing with continuous autofocus (AF-C). This allows the photographer to concentrate fully on the moment of the shot and the composition of the image.
Convenient handling
The X-S20 is extremely compact and weighs only 491 grams. It has a large handgrip that allows the camera to be held stably and comfortably.
Improved battery life
Around 800 photos can be taken with the high-performance NP-W235 battery, around twice as many as the previous model. The long battery life makes the X-S20 the ideal camera for photo tours and travel.
Effective image stabilization
The internal five-axis image stabilization (IBIS) compensates for unwanted camera movements and enables a sharpness improvement of up to seven EV steps. Even at night, at dusk or in other low-light situations, freehand photos can be taken.
The X-S20 is equipped with a remarkably clear and sharp viewfinder image with 2.36 million pixels and 0.62x magnification. Its rear touch screen can be tilted and rotated sideways, making it easy to take self-portraits. In addition, the camera is compatible with the TG-BT1 tripod grip, which has been specially developed for the production of vlog content.
Videos in 6.2K/30p
The X-S20 enables the recording of videos in impressive 6.2K/30p resolution in 4:2:2 10-bit format. It also supports advanced video formats such as 4K/60p and 1080/240p. With the F-Log2 shooting mode, videographers can take advantage of an extended dynamic range of over 13 stops to further exploit their creative potential in video editing.
The camera also offers the option of recording 12-bit RAW video files using a compatible external HDMI recorder from Atomos. These can then be saved as Apple ProRes RAW (*7) in a resolution of 6.2K or lower and at frame rates of up to 29.97 frames per second.
Furthermore, the raw video data can be saved as Blackmagic RAW in conjunction with the monitor recorders of the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G series. A quality of up to 6.2K and a frame rate of 29.97 frames per second is possible.
The camera is extremely compact and still offers two 3.5mm sockets for connecting an external microphone and headphones. In addition, it has a new vlog mode, which has been specially developed for self-shooting and can be easily activated via the upper selection dial.
The X-S20 offers the option of using it as a webcam without having to install additional software. All that is needed is a USB-C cable to connect the camera to a computer (*8).
Film simulations can even be applied to the transmitted image during streaming or an online conference. In addition, it is possible to adjust the camera settings even during an ongoing connection to the computer.

Voigtländer Macro APO-Ultron 35mm f2 X-Mount black
The 35 mm F2.0 Macro APO-Ultron X is a completely new development and was designed exclusively for the Fujifilm APS-C sensor. The focal length corresponds to around 53 mm on Fujifilm APS-C cameras and therefore offers a popular and universal standard focal length.
The lens configuration consists of nine elements in six groups, with three elements made of glass with abnormal partial dispersion. A special feature is the minimum focus distance of just 16.3 cm (magnification 1:2) with a working distance to the subject of 6 cm (with lens hood attached). This enables exciting perspectives with an extremely narrow depth of field range.
In addition to the pleasantly natural color rendition due to the apochromatic design, the lens has a maximum aperture of F2.0 - an exceptionally large aperture for a macro lens. A front focusing system is used in which the front four groups are moved together, which also keeps the extension length short when focusing. Overall, with a length of 54.8 mm and a weight of 265 g, the lens is very compact and portable.
The lens is also equipped with electronic contacts that ensure reliable communication between the lens and the camera body. Functions such as focus check, shooting distance display as well as in-camera image stabilization and parallax correction are supported on certain models *(please note the information at the end!)
The Voigtländer 35 mm / 1:2.0 Macro APO-Ultron X-Mount is not only aimed at macro photographers, but also offers the right mix of perspective, image quality and pleasant handling for many other photographic situations.
