Sony Alpha ILCE 6600
The Alpha 6600 mirrorless system camera from Sony extends the APS-C series and scores with state-of-the-art technologies. With leading autofocus performance, outstanding image quality and the latest video technologies, this model provides photographers with a compact and lightweight camera. The Sony
"One Mount solution for both APS-C and full-frame cameras provides great versatility to meet all photo and video shooting needs.
The Alpha 6600 has been designed as a versatile camera to meet the needs of demanding photographers and videographers. It is ideal for a wide variety of shooting situations and user types. At the heart of the new mirrorless camera are an Exmor 24.2 MP CMOS image sensor and the latest BIONZ X image processor with front-end LSI, inherited from the full-frame cameras from Sony full-frame cameras. This powerful trio improves overall image quality and performance for all photo and movie genres
, and the camera also offers 0.02 second autofocus response time. The phase detection autofocus with 425 points covers around 84 percent of the sensor. Combined with 425-point contrast autofocus, the Alpha 6600 ensures reliable autofocus performance even in difficult lighting conditions
and is equipped with real-time tracking that uses the latest algorithm from Sony with AI-based object detection, so that subjects are also captured ultra-sharp via the touchscreen on the back. In addition, this model offers real-time eye detection autofocus and the latest version of Sony's eye autofocus technology. This AI-based object recognition captures eye data in real time and processes it directly. This optimizes the accuracy, speed and tracking performance of eye detection autofocus on people and animals, allowing photographers to focus on capturing the image.
Eye for detail
The Alpha 6600 has also been equipped with additional features to optimize usability. The natural color algorithms adopted from the full-frame models, especially for skin tones, ensure improved color reproduction. High-resolution integrated 4K movie recording with pixel readout without pixel binning in Super 35mm format and with uncomplicated smartphone transfer is possible via the Imaging Edge Mobile application. The interval recording function enables breathtaking time-lapse movies. The 3.0-inch LCD touchscreen with around 921,000 pixels can be tilted 180° on this model. This means that recordings can be viewed clearly in any situation. A built-in microphone connection enables video recording with ultra-clear movie sound.
Top innovations in full-frame cameras
With an ISO range of 100 to 32,000 (expandable to ISO 50 to 102,400), the new Alpha 6600 delivers sharp images even in difficult lighting conditions with its outstanding low-noise performance. Optimum noise reduction and sharpness processing significantly reduce noise in images without compromising on high resolution, so that subject structures and shadows are reproduced in fine detail. The innovative 5-axis image stabilization integrated into the housing ensures a shutter speed that is 5.0 steps faster.
The leading long battery life introduced for the first time in an APS-C camera with the Z battery of Sony ensures long performance for approx. 720 photos via the viewfinder or approx. 810 shots via the LCD monitor. The camera is packaged in a robust, dust- and splash-proof magnesium alloy construction and is perfectly protected for travel. Once the real-time autofocus with eye detection for video recording is activated, the eye of the subject is automatically tracked with ultra-precision and reliability, allowing the filmmaker to concentrate fully on the subject.
The touch tracking function also starts the autofocus with eye detection automatically when a person is selected as the subject. High-quality headphones can be connected via the integrated headphone jack for precise control of the recorded sound.
4K recording
The Alpha 6600 enables 4K movie recording in Super 35mm format with full pixel readout without pixel binning, capturing around 2.4 times the amount of data required for 4K movies. The HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) image profile integrated in the Alpha 6600 supports direct, authentic playback of video recordings on an HDR (HLG) compatible TV without the need for color corrections. S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma profiles are provided for users who wish to post-process their footage with color correction.
Wide AF area, extremely high AF speed and subject tracking
The high focus point density covers approximately 84% of the image area. The fast hybrid autofocus achieves the world's fastest acquisition time of 0.02 seconds thanks to the best AF phase detection and contrast detection. For moving subjects, AF points are activated in high density around the subject.
Fast continuous shooting with AF/AE at up to 11 frames per second
Shoot at up to 11 frames per second with minimum display delay, 8 frames per second in Live View and up to 116 consecutive JPEG shots (standard). View settings in the electronic viewfinder and capture every moment of action in near real time.
Silent continuous shooting
When silence is required, you can shoot at up to 8 frames per second without noise, even in AF-C mode. Combined with real-time eye detection AF or real-time tracking, this opens up new creative possibilities.
Instant tracking
Start real-time tracking by holding the shutter button halfway down, or select the subject by touch. You can also assign the tracking function to a custom button.
AI-based subject tracking
The camera's tracking system uses AI-based subject recognition algorithms. Spatial information on color, pattern (brightness) and distance (depth) is processed. In addition, high-speed tracking of the eye and face takes place in real time.
AF with real-time eye detection for people
AF with real-time eye detection offers reliable eye detection and continuous tracking even if the subject is moving, backlit, looking down or part of the face is obscured.
Real-time eye detection AF for animals
The same eye detection algorithms that produce beautiful portraits are now available for animals, so you can capture beautiful animal portraits and wildlife shots.
Right/left eye AF selection by touch
You can prioritize the subject's left or right eye not only in the settings, but also with a simple touch on the camera screen.
Smooth Transition Focus
Depending on the situation, the focus area automatically and seamlessly switches between the face and eyes of the subject you're tracking.
Activate tracking with Touch Tracking
Thanks to the Touch Tracking function, you simply have to touch the screen to start real-time tracking for photos or movies.
Tilt and pan control
Compensate for camera shake when tilting and panning, which is particularly noticeable when shooting at longer focal lengths.
Horizontal and vertical axis
Compensate for camera shake in the horizontal and vertical directions, which is particularly noticeable with high magnifications such as macro shots.
Roll compensation
Compensate for rotational camera shake, which is particularly noticeable in long, hand-held video recordings
