With the Sony Alpha 6400, there are no more limits to your creative imagination. The Alpha 6400 impresses with its high performance and advanced features such as AI-based AF with real-time eye detection, high-precision real-time tracking, high-speed continuous shooting, and 4K HDR (HLG) video recording.
The Sony Alpha 6400 impresses with its premium image quality, new autofocus, 4K video, and up to eleven continuous shooting frames per second.
425 phase-detection autofocus points
The high focus point density covers about 84% of the image area, making subject acquisition easier.
Continuous AF/AE shooting at up to 11 frames per second
You won't miss a thing with fast internal processing and large buffer memory. Capture moments with minimal display lag at 11 frames per second in After View and 8 frames per second in Live View, and continuous shooting at up to 116 JPEG (standard) or 46 compressed RAW frames.
Quiet continuous shooting at up to 8 frames per second
When shooting requires absolute silence, shooting at up to 8 frames per second without any noise is possible - with AF/AE tracking enabled, even in AF-C mode, real-time eye-detection AF, or real-time tracking. This opens up new creative possibilities.
The newly introduced AI-based subject detection technology processes a wealth of data, enabling it to detect and track even fast-moving subjects.
Precise eye detection
Optimized AF with real-time eye detection reliably detects human faces and focuses precisely on the eyes - all without special settings simply by pressing the shutter button.
Continuous eye tracking
When AF-C is activated, AF with real-time eye detection reliably focuses moving images - even when part of the face is obscured, backlit, or looking down.
Select theleft or right eye of your subject
Select Left Eye, Right Eye, or Auto before shooting so you can focus on composition. Assign custom buttons to these options for quick switching during shooting.
Reliablefocus with real-time tracking
Keeping subjects at sporting events and other moving images reliably in focus can determine whether you succeed in capturing an important, dramatic moment.
Focus with new subject detection algorithm
A newly developed subject detection algorithm processes spatial color, distance (depth), pattern (brightness), and face and eye information in real time and at high speed.
Eye tracking and seamless transitions
The tracking system captures the entire body of a person in motion from a greater distance. The focus area seamlessly transitions between the face and eyes depending on subject conditions.
Easy touch tracking
When touch tracking is configured in the menu, you can select the subject simply by touching the monitor. The camera then automatically tracks the subject during both photo and movie shooting.
Thanks to the large sensor and advanced image processor, you can capture any subject ultra-sharp in natural colors, even in difficult lighting conditions.
24.2-megapixel sensor and optimized image processor
The APS-C sensor features copper wires and optimized circuit processing that improve light capture. Combined with the image processor, you get high image resolution and natural rendering of textures.
Sharp images even in low light
Noise reduction enables sharper images even when shooting at high sensitivity in the dark. ISO base sensitivity has been increased to ISO 32000 (with an extended ISO sensitivity up to ISO 102400 for photo shooting). This gives you good results in the commonly used medium to high sensitivity range.
Natural-looking, realistic shots
Image processing algorithms like those used in full-frame cameras now enable more natural-looking color reproduction. Skin tones and plant colors thus appear more natural.
Full pixel readout without pixel binning, high-resolution 4K video recording, HDR (HLG) and S-Log/S-Gamut, as well as slow-motion and time-lapse shooting: The α6400 offers a wide range of features that expand your creative options when filming.
Time-lapse movies
The camera includes a newly introduced interval shooting function, which means continuous shooting with a break between 1 and 60 seconds between photo shots. From these, time-lapse movies can be created on a PC using the Viewer App, which is part of the Imaging EdgeTM desktop applications.
Practical vlog functions
For vlog recordings, the 180-degree swiveling LC display is useful for selecting the image section. For the audio track, in addition to the jack for an external microphone, an optional XLR adapter (sold separately) can also be used, allowing the use of professional microphones for higher audio quality.
The 180-degree tilting 3.0-inch LC display not only shows the subject in front of you, but also makes a number of camera functions accessible at the same time via intuitive touch functions.
Seamless focus area selection via touchpad
The touchpad function lets you move focus seamlessly while looking through the viewfinder. Simply drag your finger across the monitor to the point you want to focus.
TouchFocus and Touch Shutter
Touch Focus lets you change the focus position simply by touching the monitor, even moving it to the edge of the frame. And with the touch shutter, you can focus and release with just one touch.
Activating real-time tracking via touchtracking
With the touch tracking function, you simply touch the monitor to activate real-time tracking for photo or video recording. The camera then immediately focuses permanently on the subject.
The telephoto lens for a new era
Thanks to the f/1.8 aperture, very shallow depth of field can be used creatively. The optical image stabilization enables successful freehand shots even under difficult lighting conditions. With a focal length of 85mm, the lens is the perfect companion for portrait, event and wedding photography.
The ZEISS Batis autofocus lenses have been specially developed for Sony full-frame mirrorless system cameras. The lenses are fully compatible with all E-mount cameras and offer dust and splash protection in addition to fast and quiet autofocus. For creative work, distance and depth of field can be read on the innovative OLED display. The fast ZEISS Batis family offers perfect imaging performance thanks to the completely newly developed optics design.
A lens with relatively few glass-to-air surfaces, developed by Dr. Ludwig Bertele at ZEISS in 1930, it was the fastest lens for 35 mm photography at the time, with apertures up to 1:1.5 and high contrast thanks to good stray light behavior. High light and high contrast is where the name comes from, derived from the word sun, the symbol for greatest brightness.
Smooth and reliable autofocus
The design of the autofocus system requires extremely precise shifting of certain lens groups. The focusing system of ZEISS lenses is designed to guarantee a robust and fluid autofocus mechanism with the best imaging performance.
Versatile full-frame lens
This high-performance lens for the Sony full-frame mirrorless system meets the highest demands. Even with a compact design, the image result meets the expectations of professional photographers.
Optical image stabilization
Optical image stabilization gives you clear, unblurred images in difficult lighting situations. In combination with an in-camera OIS, the advantages of both systems are combined. In addition to this, this feature ensures perfect images without digital noise, as ISO values do not need to be increased to compensate for poor lighting conditions.
Rugged and weatherproof metal construction
Design measures to prevent dust and water splashes from entering the lens make it perfect for demanding outdoor use. Plus, it's ready for years of intensive use.
Innovative OLED display
For the first time on a lens, you can easily and intuitively read focus distance and depth of field precisely on the OLED display. Especially in difficult lighting conditions, the readability is always ensured in the best possible way.
