Two large aspheres and five optimally used FLD lenses, whose material has the properties of fluorite glass, keep weight and dimensions low. Likewise, the high-quality lenses provide effective correction of the chromatic aberration and lateral chromatic aberration that often affect the image quality of other ultra-wide-angle designs.

In addition,

the lens takes advantage of the digital correction capabilities of modern cameras to deliver impressive image quality with small dimensions. The constant F2.8 aperture throughout the Zoom range allows for shots with a shallow depth of field and beautiful background blur, especially for close-up subjects. Blur circles are soft and round thanks to the nine rounded aperture blades, so the background doesn't distract from the foreground subject in focus.
