The Alpha 7R V combines the highest-resolution Sony image sensor with a new AI (artificial intelligence) processing unit for AI-based image recognition - a first in an Alpha camera - and the powerful BIONZ XR image processing engine - a first in the "R" full-frame lineup. The combination of the high-resolution sensor and these processors enables a new breakthrough in scene recognition and capture for both stills and video.

The new Alpha 7R V offers 61.0 megapixel image resolution in stills, 8K video output, the most effective 8-stage image stabilization of any Sony Alpha cameras, a new four-axis multi-angle monitor, high-speed communication features, excellent operability, and smooth workflow integration. The Alpha 7R V offers next-generation autofocus with advanced scene recognition thanks to new AI (artificial intelligence)-based processing that incorporates Deep Learning. The state-of-the-art AI processing uses detailed information to estimate human postures. As a result, the precision of the camera's subject detection is vastly improved and the potential resolution is fully exploited. In addition, AI-based scene recognition has been expanded to include several new subject types, including vehicles and insects.

As a result, the Alpha 7R V achieves the highest low-sensitivity resolution in the entire Alpha series to date. This enables sensitivity settings from ISO 100 to ISO 32000 for both stills and movies, and a wide dynamic range of 15 stops for stills.

In addition to the 8-stop2 compensation effect for stills, the new stabilization algorithm also provides precise, pixel-level detection and control, and uses the full potential of the sensor's 61.0 megapixel resolution to bring out the finest subject details. Pixel Shift Multi-Shot has also been further optimized for Sony's latest camera: This function takes advantage of the high-precision integrated image stabilization. Several images, each minimally shifted, are captured in quick succession and then assembled on the computer into a single image with outstanding resolution. Using the latest version 3.5 of the Imaging Edge Desktop computer application, minute movements at the pixel level, such as changes in the position of the subject or leaves on a tree, are automatically detected and corrected, resulting in a perfectly composed image. From data equivalent to approximately 963.2 million pixels, composite images of approximately 240.8 million pixels (19,008 x 12,672 pixels) can be created from 16 shots. Furthermore, the Alpha 7R V supports precise and versatile external flash control for even more creative freedom. Even photos and videos in difficult lighting conditions are no problem: the Alpha 7R V effectively suppresses flickering artificial light.

Data can be transferred at high speed via a 2×2 MIMO WLAN connection (802.11ac) or wired via the USB-C port, which is compatible with SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps. Two large aspheres and five optimally used FLD lenses, whose material has the properties of fluorite glass, keep weight and dimensions low. Likewise, the high-quality lenses provide effective correction of the chromatic aberration and lateral chromatic aberration that often affect the image quality of other ultra-wide-angle designs.

In addition,

the lens takes advantage of the digital correction capabilities of modern cameras to deliver impressive image quality with small dimensions. The constant F2.8 aperture throughout the Zoom range allows for shots with a shallow depth of field and beautiful background blur, especially for close-up subjects.
