Pentax WG-8 black
High-quality, high-resolution images
By combining a state-of-the-art back-illuminated CMOS image sensor (which is characterized by high sensitivity and low noise and ensures fast readout of image data signals)
with a powerful image processing module, the WG-8 delivers top sensitivity ISO 6400 and high-resolution images with around 20 effective megapixels. The WG-8 combines a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor (characterized by high sensitivity and low noise and ensuring fast readout of image data signals) with a powerful image processing module to deliver a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 and high-resolution images with around 20 effective megapixels.
It also offers advanced image processing functions enabled by super-resolution technology to ensure sharp, clear, high-resolution images. It even offers such innovative features as a handheld night shooting mode that automatically captures multiple images of the same night scene and creates a single, blur-free image.
Five times optical Zoom lens with 28 mm wide-angle range
In addition to the sensor, the lens is an elementary component of a photo camera. And so the fivefold Zoom lens of the PENTAX WG-8 offers an optical Zoom range of 5 to 25 mm with a sophisticated design consisting of 11 elements (including 5 aspherical) in 9 groups. The Zoom range, which corresponds approximately to 28 to 140 mm in 35 mm format, enables users to take a wide range of applications, from exciting close-ups from a distance of just 1 centimeter, to expansive landscape shots, to exciting portraits, or nature shots in the telephoto range.
Robust construction for underwater shots up to a depth of 20 m, for up to two hours of continuous operation
Today, more than ever before, photos are an important documentation of family, friends, vacations and all the many adventures of everyday life. There are plenty of situations that start on the water slide in the amusement park and don't end with climbing or canoeing adventures, kitesurfing or diving. But the more exciting the adventure, the greater the hesitation to take the expensive camera or smartphone out of the safe bag, the greater the fear of minor or major damage. And the more exciting the adventure, the greater the risk of damage.
Extensive recording and editing functions
The Pentax WG-8 is in no way inferior to a full-blown camera in terms of many of its features. For example, the camera offers various metering methods for autofocus and exposure. Photographers can choose from many exposure options, such as 18 scene modes to select the most suitable fine-tuning for the subject, including the new depth-of-field composite mode, or give free rein to their creativity with 12 digital filters. The WG-8 offers two memory slots that can be called up via the function dial so that you don't have to search through the menu and settings for a long time when it comes down to the second.
3.0-inch LCD monitor with wide viewing angle
The WG-8 is equipped with a large, high-resolution 3.0-inch LCD monitor (3:2 ratio and approx. 1,040,000 dots). The AR (anti-reflection) coating applied to the monitor's protective cover minimizes annoying glare and reflections, thus ensuring a sharp, clear image on the screen, even in strong sunlight, as is often the case when shooting outdoors. It also features the Outdoor View setting, which allows the user to adjust the brightness of the monitor to the changing light conditions to optimize the visibility of the image on the screen.
Powerful ring light with six LEDs
The WG-8 has six LEDs mounted around the lens to minimize camera and subject blur in macro and close-up photography. The six LEDs can be individually adjusted. This device also offers selective lighting, where the user can activate only the horizontally or vertically aligned lights to illuminate the subject more three-dimensionally and emphasize its contours.
Webcam function for live streaming of high-quality, high-resolution images
In UVC mode (USB Video Class), and connected to a computer via USB cable, the WG-8 can be used as a webcam* for real-time streaming of video images in full HD resolution at 30 frames per second. In combination with the camera's macro function and the integrated ring light, the user can capture more detailed and creative images than with the computer's integrated camera during online business meetings or private online communication.
Advanced GPS functions and integrated digital compass
The WG-8's built-in GPS module automatically records position data and travel log data in parallel with the captured images. The module can be activated at the touch of a button and receives signals from GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and US GPS satellites. With the GPS lock function, the user can save GPS data on the captured images by using previously recorded position data - very practical for taking pictures inside buildings. GPS data, directional data captured with the digital compass and UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) can also be imprinted in the bottom right corner of an image.
Movie recording in 4K resolution for extended movie recordings in high quality
In addition to the many photos we take and share with our friends and family, videos offer a special opportunity to relive our experiences and adventures. For this purpose, the WG-8 allows you to record videos in 4K resolution in H.264 format to capture high-quality movie clips (3840 x 2160 pixels, 30 frames per second)
