COKIN Gradual Neutral Density Kit
Photographers and filmmakers can use Cokin Gray filters to influence the light hitting the sensor as desired and needed.
In many outdoor photography or landscape photography situations, the contrast between the ground and the sky is extreme. If the subject is to be correctly exposed near the ground, the sky may eat away at it and image information is lost that cannot be recovered even in post-processing. If the sky is to be shown to its best advantage and a bit of drama is to be conjured up in the image, the background will most likely be underexposed. Without graduated filters, photographers and filmmakers alike are then forced to find a compromise, which often ends in flat, low-contrast images. With the use of Cokin graduated filters, this problem can be solved easily and quickly. By gradually darkening, the darker areas of the image can be perfectly exposed, while the sky can be darkened by using the appropriate graduated filter. Thus, no image information is lost, which will be confirmed later by photos with incredible intensity.
Since it is a plug-in system, the area to be darkened can be placed simply but precisely where the photographer wants it or where the composition requires it. This means that there are no limits to creativity. Because other possibilities can also be implemented with the Cokin filter kit. Foggy-looking streams, distorted cloud formations or simply photographing with the aperture open, even though the light situation no longer permits this.
The graduated filter kit from Cokin contains three graduated filters of different strengths:
The GND2 filter (N° 121L) reduces the incident light by one stop. The GND4 graduated filter (N° 121M) reduces incident light by 2 stops while the GND8 filter (N° 121) provides a darkening of 3 stops.
This COKIN Gradual Neutral Density Kit is suitable for lens diameters from: 49 mm - 96 mm.
