B+W ND 1.8 MRC nano MASTER 49 mm
This B+W gray filter, which reduces the aperture by six stops, is already considered an extreme filter in photographic imaging. It turns 1/60 s into a whole second of exposure time without changing the aperture (and depth of field). Flowing water is rendered fragrantly and delicately. A tripod is always required.
A finely ground and polished special glass is used as the basis for the ND filter glass. This guarantees the necessary optical quality, which does not negatively affect a correspondingly high-quality lens.
With the thin-film technology developed here, not only the pure ND filter effect comes into play, but a coating combination optimizes the ND filter. In addition to the filter effect, the coating combination contains a multi-layered anti-reflective component with 7 layers per filter side to prevent annoying reflections. An outer layer with the usual dirt and water-repellent properties is applied as the final layer. This not only provides all-round protection for the filter, but also makes it easy to clean and maintain the filter pane. The light attenuation itself is very uniform over the entire visible range and produces optimally color-neutral image results.
Please note
Gray filters must not be used for direct visual observation of the sun (risk of blindness). They allow UV and IR radiation, which is harmful to the eye, to pass through.
Tips
- Use a sufficiently stable tripod
- Work with "B" bulb for long exposure times
- Use remote control with camera app
- Set exposure values manually (not fully automatic)
- Select low ASA values and a small aperture
- Live view for control
- Switch off the noise reduction program
- Use RAW format to achieve optimum post-processing
- Cover the camera viewfinder during shooting
