Powerful and easy to use

The Speedlite EL-5 is a powerful and reliable Speedlite that belongs in every equipment bag. With a guide number of 60 (3) and a blazingly fast flash recycle time of 0.1-1.2 seconds (4), it has never been easier to light action-packed events such as parties or weddings. The LP-EL battery provides ample power for 85 consecutive full power flash releases - with a full charge lasting for a total of 350 flash releases (5) For more subtle lighting requirements, the advanced manual setting allows the flash power to be reduced to 1/1,024 power.

As the first Speedlite from Canon for the multifunction accessory shoe of the latest EOS R series cameras, the Speedlite EL-5 features gold-plated contacts to ensure a reliable connection with the camera and improved communication. For reliable performance even during longer flash exposures, the Speedlite EL-5 is equipped with a particularly efficient passive cooling system to dissipate heat more quickly. Even in adverse weather conditions, the dust and splash protection ensures trouble-free use.

Designed for professional workflows, it offers a range of features such as wireless radio control of up to 15 additional Speedlites and a Camera Link function that allows external cameras connected to these Speedlites to be triggered.

The dual white LED light serves as a modeling light or AF assist light to aid focusing in low light. With the custom flash mode (C.Flash), user flash settings (C1, C2, C3) can be registered on the Speedlite, which can then also be linked to the camera's custom modes (6). They serve as presets to speed up workflows in more complex environments. With the same intuitive design and menu system as the EL-1, the Speedlite EL-5 offers a familiar joystick and button layout as well as a new (flash) menu direct button for easy access to the camera's Speedlite settings menu.
