Continuous, quiet STM focusing during video recording
The STM (Stepping Motor) makes it easy to record high-quality, crisp video. It enables smooth, virtually silent continuous focusing. This makes video recording especially quiet, and sound recordings are not disturbed by noise from the focus motor. The image stabilizer compensates for camera shake when shooting video without a tripod.

A lens hood, available as an optional accessory, further reduces the risk of annoying light reflections.
