Fujifilm Fujinon GF 55mm f1.7 R WR
Outstanding image quality
The optical design comprises 14 elements in ten groups. Two aspherical elements and two ED lenses ensure excellent imaging performance and a velvety soft bokeh effect. The aspherical lenses are manufactured in a high-precision moulding process with a manufacturing tolerance of just 1/100,000 millimetres
.One of these lenses is located directly behind the aperture unit to correct spherical aberrations and ensure the reproduction quality of the background blur. The other is positioned in the rear part of the optical system near the bayonet; it concentrates the incident light rays and thus prevents a loss of sharpness in the corners of the image. The focus group consists of no less than eight elements,
withan aspherical lens and two ED elements ensuring that a consistently high resolution is achieved at any focusing distance. Optical chromatic aberrations in front of and behind the focal plane, so-called longitudinal chromatic aberrations, are minimized so that the out-of-focus image areas are also displayed in an appealing colour
.This contributes significantly to the attractive bokeh effect, which is typical of images taken with fast lenses and large image sensors. The front lens and the lens elements of the focus group are made of highly refractive glass, as is usually used in sophisticated cinema lenses. This special glass effectively corrects focus errors caused by the refraction of spherical lenses.
Theresult is a consistently high imaging performance at any distance setting, which is particularly advantageous when changing the focal plane ("focus movements") during video recording.
Attractive bokeh effect
The iris diaphragm of the GF55mm F1.7 R WR consists of eleven blades, more than in any other GF lens. The high number of blades ensures that a practically circular aperture is achieved even when the lens is slightly stopped down and the typical large blur points (bokeh) can be achieved.
High-speed standard focal length
The 55 mm standard focal length (equivalent to 44 mm 35 mm) is suitable for a wide range of shooting situations and subjects. The new lens thus extends the range of applications of the GFX system to include demanding reportage and street photography. The combination of large-format image sensor and large aperture of F1.7 opens up the possibility of optically separating the subject from the background and placing it at the center of the image statement.
Fast and precise autofocus
The powerful DC motor of the GF55mm F1.7 R WR ensures fast and precise autofocus, which reliably focuses on the subject even with a shallow depth of field. The photographer can react quickly when a special moment or an interesting constellation of picture elements promises a powerful image.
Compact design
The GF55mmF1.7 R WR is also ideal for reportage and street photography thanks to its handy design. Despite its high speed, the lens is only 99.3 mm long and weighs just 780 grams. The compact design was achieved in part thanks to the advanced optical construction with high-precision aspherical lenses
.Splashproof and dustproof
The abbreviation "WR" in the lens name indicates the weather-resistant design of the lens. The GF55mmF1.7 R WR is therefore ideally suited for use in light rain and dusty environments. The barrel is sealed against moisture and dirt in nine places. The seals also ensure that the lens can be used at low temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius
