With the Fujinon GF 80mm F1.7 R WR, Fujifilm presents an F1.7 AF lens for large format camera systems. It is also the fastest lens available for the GFX series to date, with a focal length of 80mm (equivalent to 63mm KB).

The Fujinon GF 80mm f1.7 R WR features excellent image quality and an attractive bokeh effect, while the large aperture of the GF 80mm F1.7 R WR combined with the large-format sensor enables a very special image aesthetic.

Professional image quality
The optical construction of the GF 80mm F1.7 R WR offers users maximum creative freedom. The lens construction includes twelve elements in nine groups, including an aspherical lens and two Super ED elements. The arrangement of the lenses is balanced to achieve optimal correction of spherical aberrations and a unique bokeh effect whose atmospheric aesthetics cannot be reproduced by any other large-format lens.

A central element here is the aperture, whose nine blades are arranged in a circle. Wide open, it allows excellent cropping of the subject when used with a GFX-series camera, which is clearly and richly detailed against an attractively soft background.

The aspherical lens is manufactured with the highest precision. With a tolerated deviation of no more than one hundred thousandth of a millimeter, the quality standards are five times higher than in conventional optical manufacturing processes. Not only the large aperture, but also the low error tolerance ensures a soft and harmonious bokeh.

Fast autofocus
The GF 80mm F1.7 R WR is the first lens for large-format cameras with F1.7 aperture and autofocus. It features a powerful AF motor that quickly moves the six elements of the focus group, including the aspherical lens, to the required position. Even at open aperture and minimal depth of field, automatic focusing is reliable and pinpoint accurate.
The lens is compatible with Face and Eye Detection on the latest FUJIFILM cameras, which use an advanced AF algorithm to focus precisely even on moving subjects. When used on the GFX100, the GF80mmF1.7 R WR increases the working range of the camera's autofocus by 0.5 EV to as low as -5.5 EV. This provides accurate auto-focusing for dark subjects.

Compact and lightweight design
With a length of 99.2 mm and a weight of 795 grams, the GF 80mm F1.7 R WR is exceptionally handy. This makes it equally suitable for studio and location shoots. Ten seals protect the interior from moisture and dust, ensuring that the lens can be used even in freezing temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. The front lens has a water- and dirt-repellent fluorine coating.
