Fujifilm XF 33mm F1.4 R LM WR
New generation standard lens: the FUJINON XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR with high resolution and fast autofocus
With the FUJINON XF33mm F1.4 R LM WR, FUJIFILM presents a first-class fast standard lens for mirrorless system cameras of the X series. Like the fixed focal lengths FUJINON XF18mm F1.4 R LM WR and FUJINON XF23mm F1.4 R LM WR, it belongs to a new generation of lenses developed with future camera sensors with even higher resolution in mind. Even at F1.4 open aperture, these lenses offer outstanding resolving power.
The first-class 33 mm fixed focal length (equivalent to 50 mm KB) can be used in a wide range of applications. The high F1.4 aperture provides additional flexibility in difficult lighting conditions, and also allows for shots with exceptionally beautiful bokeh. A fast and pinpoint autofocus ensures reliable focus in both photo and video shooting.
The XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR follows in the tradition of the X series, which offers not only excellent image quality, but also a handy design. The compact and robustly built lens has a splash-proof and dust-proof housing. It weighs only about 360 grams and is 73.5 mm long with a filter diameter of 58 mm.
Brilliant image quality
The optical construction of the XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR includes 15 elements in ten groups. Two aspherical lenses and three ED lenses effectively minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations. Even at F1.4 open aperture, a consistently high resolving power is achieved across the entire image area, regardless of the shooting distance. Two ED lenses and an aspherical lens placed in the focus group at the front of the lens prevent unwanted variations in imaging performance at different shooting distances. This ensures superior image quality from the shortest setting distance to "infinity" (∞).
Universal standard focal length
The XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR offers the popular standard focal length of 50mm (KB equivalent). This focal length is closest to the usual viewing impression, as the size ratios of objects at different distances correspond to natural perception. The lens is thus suitable for a wide range of shooting situations, from portraits to reportage and landscape photography.
The standard focal length stands for a conscious concentration on the essence of photography. It frees the photographer from unnecessary options and, with a more careful composition of the image, supports its effect, which is enhanced by the skillful choice of perspective and subject cropping. These compositional options are further enhanced by the lens' short close-up distance. The shortest focusing distance is only 30 cm. This corresponds to a maximum magnification of 0.15 times.
Fast, precise and silent autofocus
The XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR features internal focusing, in which the lightweight focus group is precisely and silently moved to the desired position by a linear motor. Autofocus quickly focuses on the subject in up to 0.04 seconds*, so the exposure is always made at the decisive moment.
When shooting moving subjects in AF-C mode, the focus remains stable on the main subject. This guarantees sharp images even in dynamic situations. Regardless of the shooting distance, the imaging performance of the lens remains constantly high from the shortest setting distance to "infinity" (∞). Focus breathing is so low that the lens is also suitable for demanding moving images.
Manual focusing made easy
The setting accuracy of the focus ring has been improved, making manual focusing easier at shallow depth of field. An optimized gear ratio ensures that focus adjustment is absolutely smooth, even with minimal effort. The focus ring also features revised knurling, the grooves of which are now easier to clean.
Compact, lightweight and robust housing
With a weight of just 360 grams, a length of just 73.5 mm and a filter size of 58 mm, the XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR is exceedingly handy. The slim and stylish design was achieved by a focus group with a small lens diameter and a space-saving AF linear motor arrangement.
The robust lens is sealed against moisture and dust at eleven points and can be used down to minus 10 degrees Celsius without restriction. This means that photographs can be taken even in wind, rain and freezing cold. The aperture ring can be secured using an automatic locking mechanism (A Position Lock) to prevent accidental adjustment of the shooting parameters.
