Using the HD PENTAX DA 1.4x AW teleconverter extends the focal length of the lens in front by a factor of 1.4. Not only does the photographer get additional magnification in the telephoto range, but this also results in more detailed crops at close range while maintaining the shortest focusing distance. The speed of the lens is reduced by one f-stop.

The HD PENTAX DA 1.4x AW teleconverter has been designed to match the PENTAX APS-C lens range. It takes over the SDM and DC focus functions as well as the transmission of the AF drive by shaft.

Due to its weatherproof construction, it is predestined for use in nature photography even under adverse conditions. Three special seals protect the system from ingress of dust, sand or moisture and thus enable special images of e.g. animals in their natural environment.

When using the converter, it is important not to influence the good optical properties of the lens used. Therefore the optical system of the converter has been treated in the same way as the top lenses of the PENTAX system. Thus, the optical elements are provided with the HD coating, which is applied in multiple layers, reduces reflections, increases transmission and provides sharp, high-contrast images, even under difficult lighting conditions, such as backlighting.
