Pentax ED 15-30 mm f/2.8 DFA HD SDM WR

The HD PENTAX-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR, a particularly powerful super-wide-angle Zoom lens for the 35 mm full-frame image circle.

In addition to the particularly dynamic and impressive angle of view, this super-wide-angle Zoom lens offers excellent imaging performance that perfectly reproduces the finest structures and details. At the same time, image errors such as aberrations, coma or distortions are reduced to a minimum. At the same time, the SDM motor ensures quiet, fast and reliable focusing.
With the new HD PENTAX-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR, twelve lenses from the FA and D FA series are now available for the 35 mm full-frame system.

Exceptional imaging performance
The new D FA 15-30mm super wide-angle Zoom lens offers an impressive angle of view and enables particularly spectacular images, e.g. in landscape photography, especially in combination with the 35mm full-frame camera PENTAX K-1. With the extreme perspective of the 15 mm focal length, compositions with a deep image effect can be created in particular. At 30 mm, the lens is very well suited for reportage photography or spontaneous mo-ment shots. If the lens is used on a PENTAX camera with APS-C sensor, the focal length range is 23 - 46 mm.

State-of-the-art lens construction
The optical constructionofthe D FA 15-30 mm lens consists of 18 elements in 13 groups. Three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) and aspherical elements each provide high-contrast, high-resolution images right to the edges with minimal chromatic aberration, coma and distortion.

Super-wide-angle zoom with large F2.8 aperture
The very large F2.8 entrance aperture over the entire Zoom range opens up a wide variety of subject worlds. For example, photos of impressive landscapes with starry night skies can be created. The large usable aperture range up to f22 offers a wide range of possibilities for playing with the depth of field. The nine rounded aperture blades provide a very fine and soft bokeh that gives a balanced sense of depth.

Fast focus with SDM motor
The new D FA 15-30 mm Zoom lens is equipped with the latest generation Supersonic Direct Drive (SDM). In conjunction with cameras designed for it, such as the PENTAX K-1, this enables fast and virtually silent focusing for instant response to the many challenges in photography.

Weatherproof construction
The most interesting shots are always taken where the camera and lens are better left wrapped up. However, special seals effectively prevent dust and moisture from penetrating the lens, so when used in conjunction with PENTAX SLR cameras that are also weatherproof, the lens is ideally equipped for use in rain, snow or on stormy days at the seaside.

HD coating for optimum light transmission and minimum reflection
The lens elements of this lens feature the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX, which offers significantly higher light transmission with low reflection compared to conventional coatings. This enables maximum contrast and sharpness without flare and ghosting even in difficult conditions such as backlighting.

SP coating to prevent front lenscontamination
In addition to HD coating, the front lens of the lens is equipped with SP (Super Protect) coating, which protects against grease or water and simplifies cleaning. Especially with a front lens as large as this lens, this is an important quality feature.

Quick Shift for fast switching between autofocus and manual focus
Effortless focus correction is possible via the Quick Shift focus system. This allows manual correction directly after automatic focusing has been performed, without switching over.

Lens compatibility
RICOH IMAGING currently offers three lens series for the PENTAX system.

• The FA lenses were originally designed for the analog 35 mm system and thus cover a 35 mm image circle. The lenses that remain in the program offer a useful extension for many applications with excellent imaging quality.

• Together with the digital cameras, the DA series was introduced, which is designed for digital recording technology and covers the image circle in APS-C format.

• The D FA series is the synthesis of both lens types. Optimized for digital shooting and designed for the 35 mm shooting format, they are the standard lenses for the 35 mm full-frame system.

The new HD PENTAX-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR lens can be used on all PENTAX K series cameras without any problems. Here it offers an effective focal length of 23 - 46 mm converted to the 35 mm format.
