With the new PENTAX HD coating, particularly high transmission values are achieved. With a reduction in reflection to less than 50% compared to conventional coating, this lens enables particularly sharp and high-contrast images.

ED glass elements compensate for chromatic aberration and are thus responsible for special resolving power and perfect sharpness across the entire image area from corner to corner.

The design allows the photographer to play perfectly with the aperture and enables perfect bokeh at shallow depth of field thanks to the round aperture blades.

The aluminum lens barrel underscores the high standards of lens manufacturing. The fluted design of the Zoomring allows for particularly comfortable focal length adjustment. The attention to detail is also evident in the design of the front lens cap and the lens hood, which are also made of aluminum.

The dust- and weather-resistant design with seven special sealing rings deserves special attention. In combination with a weatherproof PENTAX digital camera, the design allows use even under the most difficult environmental conditions. The PENTAX SP coating (Super Protect) protects the front lens of the lens from dirt.
