HD coating for optimum light transmission and minimum reflection
The lens elements of this lens feature the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX, which offers significantly higher light transmission with low reflection (about 50% less than conventional multi-layer coatings) compared to conventional methods. This enables maximum contrast and sharpness without stray light and ghosting even under difficult conditions such as backlighting.

The lens elements of this lens are coated with the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX, which offers significantly higher light transmission with low reflection (about 50% less than conventional multi-layer coatings) compared to conventional methods. This allows for maximum contrast and sharpness without flare and ghosting even in difficult conditions such as backlighting.
Zoomlens with 180° shooting angle
With an input focal length of 10 mm and the shortest focusing distance of 14 cm (2.5 cm from the front lens), the HD PENTAX-DA FISH-EYE 10-17mm F3.5~4.5 ED offers a 180° shooting angle. This enables the special and very distinctive fisheye shots that are reproduced full-frame (without vignetting) on cameras with an APS-C sensor.
New body design in the look of the current DA and DFA series
Inside, the new lens still features the proven optical lens design of its predecessor. However, the body has been adapted to the design of the current PENTAX DA and
D-FA series and thus fits very well into the current PENTAX product line-up. Great emphasis was placed on maintaining the compact and lightweight design. A new feature is now the removable lens hood. This reduces vignetting when used on cameras with a 35 mm full-frame sensor, which howeverj - occurs depending on the focal length set.
SP coating to prevent soiling of the front lens
In addition to the HD coating, the front lens of the lens is equipped with SP (Super Protect) coating, which protects against grease or water and simplifies cleaning. Especially when used in adverse outdoor conditions, this is an important quality feature.
