In addition to its usual outstanding performance, this new edition of the popular fast macro telephoto lens offers numerous features that make handling the lens much easier.

Thanks to Sigmas OS (Optical Stabilizer), freehand photography is extended by up to 4 stops, which helps prevent camera shake at the small apertures common in macro photography. An SLD (special low dispersion) glass element and an SLD high refractive index glass element provide excellent correction of all aberrations and distortion.

The Floating Focusing System moves 2 different lens groups to different positions on the optical axis when focusing. This system effectively compensates for astigmatism as well as spherical aberration, delivering superior optical performance from infinity to 1:1 scale.

Thanks to this technology, the overall length of the lens does not change when focusing, which simplifies the use of the macro flash and enables the use of SIGMA teleconverters, allowing even a scale of up to 2:1 to be achieved.

The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) drive provides the fast and almost silent autofocus, which can be manually intervened at any time.

The use of 9 aperture blades creates an almost round aperture, which provides a very pleasant bokeh outside the plane of focus.

The body of the lens is splash-proof and thus well equipped for use in harsher conditions.
