The 28mm angle of view was widely used in the era of analog cameras and still has many fans today. To meet the request of many photographers who have expressed a strong interest in using the familiar 28mm angle of view in the quality of the Art product line, Sigma has developed the 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art. This was done by drawing on the experience gained through the development of the previous Art F1.4 fixed focal length lens product line. This new classic wide-angle lens benefits from the latest design, materials and processing technologies.
The lens is equipped with two FLD (''F'' Low Dispersion) glass elements and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements. These three efficiently arranged aspherical lenses, including a large-diameter aspherical lens, provide thorough correction of chromatic aberration found especially in wide-angle lenses. This enables high resolution across the entire sensor, while sagittal coma is fully corrected and distortion is reduced just as effectively. Exceptional performance is achieved in street photography as well as when shooting landscapes and night skies.
Dust- and splash-proof construction
The lens is dust- and splash-proof, and together with the water- and oil-repellent coating on the front lens, it ensures exceptional performance even in extremely challenging shooting conditions. Thanks to the HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor) with updated algorithm, the high-speed autofocus detects any subject movement without delay.
Brass bayonet
The lens is equipped with a solid and precise brass bayonet. The special surface treatment to reinforce strength allows for long-lasting use.
Reflection and ghosting eliminating design
Super multi-layer coating (SML) eliminates reflections and ghosting. This ensures sharp, high-contrast images throughout the Zoom range.
Round aperture
The near-round aperture consists of 11 aperture blades and provides a very pleasing bokeh outside the plane of focus of the image.
