Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN © L-mount
The SIGMA I-Series is a line of compact, beautifully designed high-performance lenses for mirrorless camera systems. Part of the first collection is the versatile SIGMA 24mm prime lens, which expands the Contemporary product line. It combines outstanding resolving power with a small body perfectly weighted for mirrorless systems.
The 24mm F2 DG DN Contemporary premium lens brings superior optical performance, a wide aperture of F2, is constructed with all-metal construction and features an aperture ring. It was designed from the ground up for mirrorless systems and is perfectly balanced when used with modern full-frame cameras. Its high resolving power meets all the demands of the latest camera models with extremely high megapixel counts.
The always-on wide-angle lens
The new full-frame rated 24mm F2 is designed for photographers looking for a sharp, fast, rugged wide-angle lens that won't weigh them down in the camera bag.
New optical performance standards
The lens incorporates two SLD elements and an FLD lens to correct the chromatic aberration that fast lenses are otherwise prone to. Two bare-molded aspheres, manufactured with technology from the sole production facility in Aizu, Japan. provide excellent correction of various aberrations while allowing a reduction in the total number of optical elements and thus the dimensions and weight of the lens.
Considering the typical applications of a wide-angle lens, the lens designers focused their attention on uniformly high detail resolution from the center to the edges of the image field. The fact that sagittal coma is also effectively suppressed makes the lens particularly suitable for astrophotography - stars are still imaged as points even near the edge of the image.
The autofocus is driven by a stepper motor that is as fast as it is quiet, bringing out the high optical performance where you want to image with maximum sharpness.
High-quality coating
An ideal lens directs incident light through all the lenses and onto the sensor.
If, on the other hand, some of the light is reflected by individual lenses, not only does the light yield decrease; the reflections within the lens create ghost images and aperture spots, or they reduce the contrast. Such effects would be particularly noticeable in backlit shots.
To prevent this, the 24mm F2 DG DN Contemporary uses a Super Multi-Layer Coating (SML) that reduces flare and ghosting. The result is clear, sharp, high-contrast images without distracting lens flares.
For full-frame cameras
The 24mm F2 DG DN Contemporary is compatible with mirrorless L-mount full-frame cameras.
A stepper motor is used for fast focusing. Auto focus with automatic eye detection used in newer mirrorless cameras is also supported, making precise focusing of portraits, for example, a breeze.
