Two large aspherical elements and five optimally used FLD lenses, whose material has the properties of fluorite glass, keep weight and dimensions to a minimum. The high-quality lenses also ensure effective correction of longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberrations, which often impair the image quality of other ultra-wide-angle designs. In addition,

the lens uses the digital correction capabilities of modern cameras to deliver impressive image quality in a compact size. The constant aperture of F2.8 over the entire Zoom range enables images with a shallow depth of field and beautiful background blur, especially for close-up subjects. Blur circles are soft and round thanks to the nine rounded aperture blades, so that the background does not distract from the foreground subject in focus. SIGMA has also taken extensive measures against ghosting and flare caused by reflections in the lens barrel.
