Sigma 50mm f1.2 DG DN (A) Sony E-mount
The lightest lens in its class* - F1.2 aperture for maximum expressiveness within the Sigma Art line
Sigma's Art line has always stood for innovative developments. With the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art, the possibilities for creative and artistic photography are now extended even further. The aim of the Sigma
designers was to create a lens with the high expressive power of an F1.2 aperture in combination with low weight for maximum freedom of movement.
The Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art offers outstanding resolution across the entire focal range, even at open aperture. The F1.2 aperture ensures harmonious bokeh and offers great potential for creative image composition. The optical design and mechanical construction of the lens have been concentrated on the essentials.

. Thefeatures and functions of the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art meet even professional requirements. A modern dual HLA drive (High-Response Linear Actuator) ensures fast and precise focusing, while the noise level has been reduced even further. With this great F1.2 lens from the Sigma Art line, image creation becomes a pleasure and photography a special experience

Outstanding creative possibilities thanks to an aperture of F1.2
Whendeveloping the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art, special emphasis was placed on high resolution at open aperture across the entire focal range and an impressive, beautiful bokeh. Thanks to the F1.2 aperture, the contrast between the focal plane and the flowing bokeh creates a strong spatial character. The thirteen blades of the aperture add the finishing touches to the effective bokeh. Focus breathing is largely prevented, meaning that the full creative possibilities of the lens can also be utilized in video recordings.
F1.2 and highest resolution from close focus to infinity
The new optical design achieves a high resolution, whereby any form of aberration is completely suppressed even when the aperture is open. The lens is capable of reproducing details without color gradients in any situation. In addition, the integrated floating focus technology improves performance at close range and ensures consistently high image quality over the entire focus range.
Intense and beautiful bokeh without color fringing
By correcting spherical aberrations, sagittal coma, axial chromatic aberration and other aberrations, the lens delivers an extremely natural bokeh. This emerges gently and without any color gradients from the focal plane.
Inaddition, double contours of the bokeh bubbles have also been suppressed, giving the bokeh even greater expressiveness.
Rounded aperture with 13 blades
The Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art is the first Sigma lens to have an aperture with 13 blades. As a result, the aperture remains almost circular at all f-stops. In combination with an aspherical lens whose surface precision has been raised to a new level, this round aperture is an important component of the incomparable bokeh.
Minimized focus breathing
Theoptimized arrangement of the focus groups and their aspherical shape effectively suppresses focus breathing. The changes in the image angle when focusing are reduced to a minimum, resulting in natural-looking video recordings.
Low susceptibility to flares and ghosting
To avoid flares and ghosting, which impair image quality, the lens has been optimized for all lighting conditions using the latest simulation technologies. This means that brilliant, high-contrast images are possible even under unfavourable lighting conditions
.Lightest lens in its class*
Theuncompromising pursuit of high optical performance and portability - two requirements that are fundamentally at odds with each other - has made it possible to achieve the highest optical performance in the lightest lens housing in its class. This means that the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art is not an F1.2 heavyweight, but can be used in almost all shooting situations

Dual HLA drive with new system
The Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art is the first to use a newly developed dual HLA drive. Each of the two focus groups uses an improved HLA drive, which is characterized by lower volume combined with high and precise thrust and minimal noise. The fact that two focus groups move in opposite directions significantly reduces the path required by the individual focus unit. This floating focus innovation ensures precise high-speed autofocus for photo and video recordings and at the same time offers the possibility of realizing a compact housing.
Optical and mechanical design concentrated on the essentials
Each of the glass elements used in the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art is ground as thin
as possible.Glasses with a high refractive index and four aspherical lenses are used. The highly developed production technology of the Sigma factory in Aizu / Japan provides the necessary precision for processing these thin glass elements in large quantities. Furthermore, the floating focus system ensures high AF performance while reducing the overall length, resulting in a compact lens. By optimizing individual components, it was also possible to reduce the weight of the mechanical construction.
As aresult, Sigma has succeeded in developing the lightest lens in its class with a lens speed of F1.2 and a weight of just 745 g*
*L-mount version.
Excellently equipped for professional use
Awide range of functions and practical features ensure maximum convenience in all shooting situations. For example, the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art offers an individually configurable button and an aperture ring with de-click and lock function. The feel and design meet the high demands of professionals. The housing is protected against dust and splash water, and the workmanship is designed for durability and reliability
.Outstanding workmanship of the SIGMA Art line
The use of high-precision components made of TSC* and other high-quality materials ensures high robustness and durability. TSC plastics effectively reduce the weight of the lens without compromising on stability. As a new flagship lens, the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art offers the usual excellent processing quality of the Sigma Art lenses for many years of reliable use.
*TSC (Thermally-Stable-Composite) is a polycarbonate with a thermal expansion rate similar to that of aluminium.
Practical functions and equipment details
The lens offers an AFL button that can be assigned individual functions on compatible cameras. As many demanding users appreciate the ability to set the aperture directly on the lens, the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art has an aperture ring. Thanks to its "de-click function", this feature is also interesting for filmmakers, as the aperture can be adjusted steplessly and silently in this position. Those who prefer to set the aperture on the camera body can simply use the lock function of the aperture ring and are protected against accidental adjustment.
Protected from external influences
Inaddition to the dust- and splash-proof housing*, the front lens of the lens has a water- and oil-repellent coating
.The lens is dust and splash-proof, but not waterproof.
Includes lens hood and case
Thespecially adapted lens hood LH782-03 is included with the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art and is securely locked in place with a quick twist. The lens is supplied in a matching case for storage and safe transportation
