Stunning resolution and contrast
An optimized dual Gaussian lens with two aspherical elements (including a precision AA element) has been combined with an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to eliminate curvature and distortion. At the same time, resolution and contrast are optimized throughout the image, even at the widest aperture and across all focusing distances.
Versatility and beautiful bokeh thanks to an aperture of F1.4
With the F1.4 maximum aperture, images with shallow depth of field and smooth, beautiful bokeh can be achieved. A fast maximum aperture like this also allows you to shoot with fast shutter speeds in low-light conditions. Of course, a smaller aperture can also be set if needed to achieve a greater depth of field.
11 blades for bokeh with natural highlights
Although the circular aperture design of Sony typically uses up to 9 blades, this lens has 11 blades, providing a whole new level of bokeh quality. Natural-looking highlights in the out-of-focus areas enhance the overall atmosphere and provide a smooth impression of depth.
Ring motor autofocus
The ring-drive SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system enables fast and accurate positioning of the lens' heavy focus group, bringing out the best in high-resolution camera bodies. Fast and accurate focusing is required to realize the full potential of a high-resolution camera body when shooting photos and videos.
Convenient fingertip control
Aperture control is intuitive thanks to the physical aperture ring. A Zoomlock switch allows you to activate and deactivate the aperture steps on the aperture ring as needed. When shooting movies, it is recommended to DISABLE the aperture stops, while tactile feedback is often helpful when shooting stills. There is also a focus adjustment switch for easy switching between manual and automatic focus.
Outstanding colors and contrasts
ZEISS® lenses are known for their excellent color and contrast reproduction. The ZEISS® T* coating is crucial in this regard, as it helps to avoid unwanted reflections that can degrade image quality. Ghosting and light effects are reduced in favor of vibrant colors and contrasts that add depth and three-dimensionality to your images.
