Sony SEL FE 70-200mm f2.8 GM OSS
An unrivaled telephoto Zoom
The most advanced technology available has been applied to the G-Master series, further optimizing the highly acclaimed performance of the Sony G Lens. In this model, an optimized G Lens bokeh effect is combined with new levels of resolution in a superior constant F2.8 telephoto Zoom that offers unsurpassed rendering, ultra-fast autofocus and exceptional image stabilization.
Impressive detail and bokeh in one lens
Specially designed for spatial frequency resolution with excellent contrast, this lens features three aspherical elements, such as a double-sided element and a newly developed XA (extreme aspherical) element with 0.01 micron surface precision to effectively control aberrations, for amazing resolution and stunning bokeh effects.
Natural images without distracting colors
Imaging errors, which can be a problem with telephoto lenses, are comprehensively suppressed by the use of four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and two super-aspherical glass elements. Bleeding is avoided so that the subject can be captured with maximum sharpness.
First-class close-up performance
First-class close-up performance with a minimum focus distance of 0.96 m and 0.25x maximum magnification is perfect for portraits, macro shots, etc. Elements that provide further optimization include ED glass elements and a smooth focus mechanism that controls deviations that can cause problems in close-up applications.
Fast autofocus optimized for photos and videos
Two heavy focus groups are positioned quickly and precisely by separate actuators: a powerful Super Sonic wave motor (ultrasonic motor) with actuator for the front group and a double linear motor actuator for the rear group. Improved positioning precision with real-time feedback from multiple position sensors allows the housing's autofocus system to operate at full capacity.
Further optimizations for spot-on-movie autofocus
The dual linear motor of the focusing system takes on the role of "sweep" activation for the autofocus contrast detection system when shooting video. The optical design effectively minimizes "breathing" and ensures quiet mechanics and thus higher focusing performance, which is particularly suitable for both film and photo shoots.
Operation and reliability optimized for outdoor shooting
The solid construction with constant lens length during focusing and Zooming contributes to excellent handling in the widest possible range of shooting situations. Focus hold buttons can keep the focusing area in continuous autofocus even during operation, and a focus range limiter switch allows a preset range to be used for the focusing distance, achieving maximum autofocus speed.
11 blades for beautiful bokeh
The circular aperture of Sony has previously used up to 9 blades. This lens incorporates an 11-blade circular aperture that takes bokeh quality to a new level of dynamic beauty with natural highlights.
Clear images with high contrast
The advanced nano-coating technology of Sony provides a special lens coating with a precisely defined regular nano-structure that effectively suppresses reflections that can lead to glare and ghosting. This results in noticeable improvements in clarity, contrast and overall image quality.(1. Nano anti-reflective coating/2. Glass/3. Transmitted light)
Detachable rotating tripod device
This versatile lens tripod mount allows the camera to be quickly removed from the tripod in shooting situations where a quick hand-held response is required. It is also equipped with a swivel mechanism that allows you to quickly switch between landscape and portrait orientation. A locking mechanism prevents accidental unlocking.
Stability with the aim of sharp, blur-free images
High-quality image stabilization is integrated directly into the lens, enabling sharp, blur-free images to be achieved for a wide range of subjects. The heavy stabilization element is driven by a linear motor to ensure fast and precise image stabilization. 5-axis image stabilization is available with α series housings that have built-in image stabilization.
Smooth shots even when panning
To take maximum advantage of the built-in image stabilization system for the widest possible range of shooting situations, the SEL70200GM features switchable MODE 2 stabilization, which allows image stabilization to be used when panning for greater clarity and expression.
High reliability in the toughest conditions
A dust- and moisture-resistant design and fluorine-coated front elements provide additional protection, enabling reliable operation even in difficult conditions.
